rest assured that there is a life after death. i will not argue or debate it but if you need truth and fact to base your belief on do some research and see which "bible" is the most historicaly correct. Or if you need "prophetic proof", again do some reading and see. Yes as mentioned before the Christians and muslims believe close to the same thing about the after life and yes the do not like each other. BUt guess what, that is mentioned in the Bible. When Jacob and Esau parted ways it is told that the two families will allways be against each other. Hence the constant fighting between the muslims and Christians. God is real and the line is drawn. No, He will not come after you to make you see you must seek that out for yourself. The choice is yours to make, don't make your life a crap shoot, seek the answers for yourself. No one will be able to "convince" anyone. All a person can do is present the evidence "if you will" and each person must make their own choice. Make sure that the choice you make is the one you can live with.

Speaking of having a look for oneself, I bought the paperback edition of "The God Delusion" today, it's been alternately lauded and lambasted both in these forums and elsewhere, so I decided to find out what all the fuss was about.

Well, it's sort of red and white I think, I'm more interested in the contents anyway.Neoteny wrote:The front of the hardcover was very shiny... hopefully you won't be missing out on that.MeDeFe wrote:Speaking of having a look for oneself, I bought the paperback edition of "The God Delusion" today, it's been alternately lauded and lambasted both in these forums and elsewhere, so I decided to find out what all the fuss was about.

I figured the contents would be the same. My copy is just more attractive to squirrels. I see that as a plus.MeDeFe wrote:Well, it's sort of red and white I think, I'm more interested in the contents anyway.Neoteny wrote:The front of the hardcover was very shiny... hopefully you won't be missing out on that.MeDeFe wrote:Speaking of having a look for oneself, I bought the paperback edition of "The God Delusion" today, it's been alternately lauded and lambasted both in these forums and elsewhere, so I decided to find out what all the fuss was about.

But you wouldn't mind a squirrel with some extra legs, or even one that poops to seeNeoteny wrote:They're not very social... and one starts to feel bad for them when they start growing legs where there eyes should be.MeDeFe wrote:Getting tired of fruit flies?Neoteny wrote:I figured the contents would be the same. Meh, it would take a lot longer to get to that point in squirrels. I'd get tired of them before that point.MeDeFe wrote:But you wouldn't mind a squirrel with some extra legs, or even one that poops to seeNeoteny wrote:They're not very social... and one starts to feel bad for them when they start growing legs where there eyes should be.MeDeFe wrote:Getting tired of fruit flies?Neoteny wrote:I figured the contents would be the same. Not that I can enjoy such a thing myself, but I think it's probably not a bad thing.
Not to mention it loses credibility to those whose faith isn't so blind.
I think blind faith is fine, weather it be in God or something easier to imagine as real.
Some theorys don't need to be tested to have value.

meh........ this sounds like a repeat of the "are atheists smarter than theists?" thread but much simpler. until I can find the true answer, when a person dies, i believe, that if they haven't completed their job on earth yet, they come back and finish it, and if they do complete their job, they go to heaven
I do it because I can
I can because I want to
I want to because you said I couldn't
I can because I want to
I want to because you said I couldn't

please dont post again. You see, posting requires a semblance of rational thought, and blind faith is obviously your department. Blind being the operative word.
All the best!

While atheism might arguably require some sort of faith, depending on how you define 'atheism' and 'faith', I really do not see how you can possibly arrive at the conclusion that the opinion that the theory of evolution is in essence correct requires faith, whether blind or seeing. Darwin proposed his theory after examining a load of evidence, it has since been refined, expanded and revised time and time again, always as a result of new empirical evidence and new scientific methods. How does the opinion that evolution is an existing natural process require faith?116Soldier wrote:Christianity is not the only thing that requires blind faith. Erm, let me see... anybody who has ever seen a chicken has a left femur made of a omlette and gingerbread-wine.
Woo! I am the winner!!!!!1
Now, if you're determined to try this debating thing, go back to your quoted statement and try justifying it with some kind of rational argument. Blithe statments unsupported by fact or logic just make you sound like an idiot.
Good luck.
