Really? You seem to give a very vocal and open shit, and have done so "several times".

I don't menstruate, kid. That's not how homosexuality works in the real world.

A bunch of meanies in these forums. Can I get a mod for disenfranchised Wings fans? :(
Only if you are referring to the band.

f*ck it, no point in having this convo here doom. But the "cure" for gender dysphoria is to give hormones and surgery to have the body match the brain. Its not to fix the brain. This is not a 'cure' for being gay, as gay man doesn't think he is a woman trapped in a mans body. He thinks he's a dude who likes dudes, cutting off his wang is not a cure in his eyes or hopefully anyone elses.

Indeed, and kind of a +1 for why there should be a LGBT mod, or at least a mod with LGBT issues within their remit.

A lot of us old-timers were here in the dark days of CC, when "gay" was a word forbidden in the forums.

It's taken that we've got to a DADT level, at least (sorry DY), but a genuinely positive move away from the Nightstrike days seems like at least a gesture toward the modern Internet community.

Mate, you know I'm here despite of some of the nastiest flames, insults, trolls, and death threads, right? I don't really think we need to go back to the ole days.

Not everything is a popularity contest. Sometimes, speaking for a minority, or at least asking for a minority to have a voice that doesn't immediately get slapped down is unpopular.

A tyranny of the majority is always going to be a systematic problem in a governing system.

Dude seriously. If you want to help the website and become a mod, then go ahead and volunteer. Last time I heard they had a shortage of active volunteers anyway. Nobody is holding you back.

Fyi, I don't know why you expect people to completely respect your opinions. This is the internet, infamous for its flamers, bigots and trolls.
People use the internet to vent their real life frustrations and desires, from what I can read you seem to do the same.

Except there are two possibilities here:

1) Sym is the only LGBT on the site. Thus a mod clearly isnt needed as he looks aftrr himself.

2) There are other LGBT players on the site, but they also dislike Symm and would like it be known that he doesnt represent him. Thus Symm would be the worst choice of mod anyway....

And anyway, there clearly is no need of a mod when ordinary members are able to correct others in a civil manner. As per Mookie and Doom.

Going with option 2.
Have met more than two gay CC folks in real life. They don't feel the need in their personal lives or online lives to define themselves by the gender of whom they like their genitals to rub against.
I don't start every conversation with "Hi my name is Bogan, and I'm into plush pony play, neigggghhhh means play, giddy up", treat me nicely, get to know me, feed me a few sugar cubes and maybe, just maybe I might let you into what I'm into.

I have no interest in being a mod, dude, although it was kinda funny how far "the black Jesus" freaked out, when he learned they'd asked me.

I do think that an LGBT mod though. For many years the rules for mods were written by a Southern Baptist. Needless to say, "gay" was a taboo word.

I'm not proposing an LGBT mod re-write the rules, bit perhaps it would be a good idea for a member of the mod team to consider LGBT issues.

I don't want that responsibility, but you indicate that you know people who might better suit the role.

What a coincidence! I am into plush pony play too. Seeing as though there are now two of us and only one LGBT person* (being Sym), I would really like to see a PPP mod representing my issues on CC before I see an LGBT mod.

Symmetry wrote: I do think that an LGBT mod though. For many years the rules for mods were written by a Southern Baptist. Needless to say, "gay" was a taboo word.
It was my understanding the word gay was banned to stop it being used as an insult where gay means lame or not very good- eg "That is so gay", "You are so gay", "that homosexual is so gay"

In that light I always say its banning as possibly misdirected support for gay people. Hardly the evil workings of a southern baptist minister.

Luckily for you Sym the position of Southern Baptist Minister mod has not yet been filled, or you could have been facing some sort of ban for that stereotype.

----
* I am aware of the possibility there is more than one LGBT person on CC, however to my knowledge there is only one that is standing up and waving a flag to be counted. Same holds for Plush Ponies. Who knows how many PPPs there really are. I hope none of them are gay. The acronym would be horrendous

I never considered NS to be evil. I think he did his best within the confines of his ethics. If anything, I admire him for talking to me about his boundaries, much as they run contary to mine.

I consider, and still consider, NS's rules to be a flawed, ongoing debate about the community and our terms.

I think that an LGBT mod would help resolve these kind of issues

More than you might think, mate.

As a counterpoint, how many LGBT people do you think are here?

And how many do you think are openly so?
