I triggered on this post too, but for a different reason. In particular, if Mars can weed out obscure fakeclaims then Mars can certainly generate obscure fakeclaims.WingCmdr Ginkapo wrote:Thats 11 missing Potter, DD and Hotshot at the moment. Looking at the EotW blog its going to be really tough for mafia if they havent been given fake claims or actually know the book (Which I dont think many do)
On which note, worthwhile watching Mars as the only player to know the story. May be able to weed out obscure fakeclaims for us.

I did not read the reservation thread cause I did not know about it. I was one of those who asked for someone to replace Potter though. Rishaed made the post Wednesday stating he was looking for a replacement. Your theory does not work in my book BUT...WingCmdr Ginkapo wrote:Thats 11 missing Potter, DD and Hotshot at the moment. LOL on further examination there are other things I dislike. Mets brings a good point but for me what seems scummy is this broad generalization on fake claims. Why would he say he does not think many mafia would know the books? You can only make this claim unless you know who mafia are. Why would he not take into account that Mars may be mafia?

What is the friggin point of what? Playing mafia? Defending your posts? Whats with the sigh? Not like you have been under a lot of pressure.WingCmdr Ginkapo wrote:Thats it? You put more effort into your threat to vote for me.

I was doubtful of Mtams initial point...but you really seem like your trying very hard to come off as Town right out of the gate.

If you read all our responses to signing up for the game almost everyone but Mars points out that they havent read the books. Makes little difference who Mafia is, only Mars has actually read the book.
My logic was that until we have good reasons to suspect Mars we dont potentially mislynch him. Mets's point does make sense though, and is something I hadnt considered, that if he is scum then he could generate fakeclaims for his team mate which makes him more dangerous. Basically he is useful to his alignment.
There is little point trying to get logic out of Mtam.
Yes I read the replacement thread. There is also evidence in a finished game that I know that Potter hasnt been online in 12 days now, and got kicked out a risk game for missing turns. Boom go the dinosaurs.

put me down for the not a scum slip camp. Given how the game was filling it was likely a replacement was possible. I thought I had seen a post in the replacement thread myself before the game started.
Id also assume wing reads more posts in the forum (games played or not) than mtam does.

It is grasping at straws to assume his alignment. You are overstating what happened.
Mets makes a read on wing, ok. I can see where he is coming from. It is worth noting, but it is about as much to go off as you would expect early day 1.
IB doesn't really make a read on alignment.

I wouldn't call it a scum read, because as you correctly note there's just not enough material yet to make such an opinion. Just something interesting to note. (The Potter thing is a dead end also, I think.)got tonkaed wrote:It is grasping at straws to assume his alignment. You are overstating what happened.

What is, "Theres this place where a group of people chat, where they openly discuss strategies. It may have occured there, get a clue", if not Mafia daychat? What else would he possibly be suggesting?

what i note most of all of this is that IB is joining, i dont expect that from IB in general.
rest is pretty much chatter to me so far. bit of ifs and stuff in my opinion.

That's not the point. Rather, the point is that mafia wouldn't need to have a day chat to know that one of their own was being replaced.WingCmdr Ginkapo wrote:?

Re: [Official] Wheel of Time:EotW [14/14] D1:An Empty Road
mtam has a habit (at least, a habit I perceive) of asking questions intended to trick other people into scum slips. This is pretty classic of him. I think it's kind of dastardly but whatever. Anyway I'm not sure if that's what he was doing here, but if so it was smart I guess.WingCmdr Ginkapo wrote:I see, in that case my answer is that I allowed myself to accept Mtam's logic without properly considering the alternatives.Metsfanmax wrote:That's not the point. Anyway -- the Potter thing is done with. I don't see the point in carrying it on further.

This also probably makes me a big target, though. While I know the flavour of the game, I'm still one of the less experienced players here.WingCmdr Ginkapo wrote: My logic was that until we have good reasons to suspect Mars we dont potentially mislynch him. I see mtam as the kind of player who, if he sees something, will push at it really hard to find out if he's right. He's also the kind who will make the big plays and take the big risks. You can absolutely try to get logic out of mtam, but just remember that he's probably trying something bigger than what he's saying. Try to get logic out of him - if he's town, he'll be making plays that will lure the scum out. If he's scum, then you've drawn attention to him and more chance for a scumslip. Either way, there's a point to trying. There is little point trying to get logic out of Mtam.
