Total War series for PC.
Right now on the 360 playing through Skyrim. First time I ever got as far as I have. Level 41, 2 handed, heavy armored, Red Guard that transforms into a werewolf and played the Hearthfire and Dawngaurd DLC's. Dawnguard DLC is worth it. And now for a Skyrim related video.

Over the years, I've known a fair number of people who got into the Civ installments, but I never seemed to stumble into it. I was browsing some Steam deals and noticed Civ 5 on sale, plus some add-ons, for $25.00

From those of you who play, is it worth to get this as a digital stocking stuffer while the deal is around (offer ends November 27th). And what do you enjoy most about playing...and what do you think a newcomer would enjoy?Sid Meier's Civilization® V: Game of the Year
Includes the Following Civilization V content:
All 4 Cradle of Civilization Map Packs (Mediterranean, Asia, Americas, Mesopotamia)
Civilization Pack: Babylon (Nebuchadnezzar II)
Double Civilization and Scenario Pack: Spain and Inca
Civilization and Scenario Pack: Polynesia
Civilization and Scenario Pack: Denmark - The Vikings
Explorer’s Map Pack

I downloaded Planetside last night and played it for a little while with some friends. But it was basically a giant clusterfuck.

Civilization 5 is not my favorite in the series, but it is very good. I enjoy attempting to win in ways other than conquering other nations and I'm big into building an interconnected empire. If I do go to war, I try to do so late in the game (like WWI/WWII era units). In any event, you can play the game without knowing too much about the ins and outs and I would recommend reading the manual AND going through the tutorials.AndyDufresne wrote:Over the years, I've known a fair number of people who got into the Civ installments, but I never seemed to stumble into it. In terms of this package itself, I have never played any of these. Map packs are usually pretty awesome. Not sure about the civilization packs. If you can get the map packs plus the game itself for cheap, I would do that.

Re: What video/computer game are you currently playing?
gonna pick up dead island game of the year edition from best buy for 7.99 on black friday. I've heard the game has a lot of downsides, but as a PS3 owner, it's the closest I can get to left for dead, and I mean, 8 bucks? solid.
also going to try to pick up dead space 2 for 15 at gamestop on black friday, I've heard it's an excellent series and it will prime me for whether i should buy the 3rd when it comes out next year.
just started hearing about gta 5 and I hardly played any earlier versions, but this one seems like it will be bigger and better than ever.
and what's everyone's opinion on the far cry series? far cry 3 looks pretty awesome to me, but I really don't know anything about the far cry games at all.

Downloaded some free pc versions of old SNES games I don't have anymore, not as fun as when you're sitting there with the old controller infront of the real console, but it brought back some memories.

Steam has Portal I and II bundle for $12, among other massive sales. Will be playing through both of these games finally, they seem so cool.

Re: What video/computer game are you currently playing?
The Humble Bundle has a THQ bundle right now (Windows only). They mostly look like games I would rarely consider purchasing individually, but there are so many in the deal I'll likely enjoy at least one of them for the pittance they'd like.
https://www.humblebundle.com/
Games:
Company of Heroes (and its two full-blown expansions Opposing Fronts and Tales of Valor),
Darksiders,
Metro 2033,
Red Faction: Armageddon with Red Faction: Armageddon Path to War DLC,
Titan Quest,
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War Game of the Year Edition,
Saints Row: The Third.

Need For Speed Most Wanted is terrific. Take a Ford F-150, throw on a reinforced chassis and powershot nitrous (because it turns you into a battering ram) and just go trash all of the players showing up in those low slung exotics.
The best is when they start screaming at you for it. In a foot race they'll escape, but not when they're first meeting up!

I won a gaming mouse in some raffle, so I decided to try my hand at competitive Starcraft 2.
No Koreans sighted just yet, it would kill my league standing if I ended up having to play them.

Just got an Xbox 360 at my company Christmas party, and Skyrim came in the bundle. Only just started playing it last Saturday, but already I'm addicted. Such an awesome game.thegreekdog wrote:I've started playing Skyrim again. Started over. Because I'm a glutton.

New DLC Dragonborn adds a TON of stuff and areas to explore. A pretty cool DLC. But once you get past level 45, the grinding to keep leveling is a pain at times.Serbia wrote:Just got an Xbox 360 at my company Christmas party, and Skyrim came in the bundle. Right now playing Halo 4. Finished campaign (awesome storyline between Cortanna and Chief), but mostly play multiplayer. Kind of sucks when you have to go up against people in the 80s while you're 20. You barely get some shots off.
