Map Alphabet - J L O Q X Y Z

Postby Tieryn on Mon Dec 24, 2007 11:26 pm

So, the seven letters that do not yet have conquer club maps, precluding me from running a "round the alphabet" tournament :P

To help with this disastrous problems, I thought everyone could go on a brainstorming suggestion binge for maps that will begin with these letters (if there are already ones in the process, let us know!)

J
- Jungle Fever
- Jamaica
- Jeruselum
- Jumpin Jack Flash (relative of bamboo jack perhaps?... perhaps not)
- Jam Room (garage band setup!)

L
- Locomotion and Beyond (A story of Kylie's hits...??? maybe not...)

O
- Origami
- Open Season!
- Over Easy (the egg cooking map? :P)

Q
- QANTAS (flightpath map?)
- Queens of England (they're all interbred, making interesting connection surely)
- Quake! (the earth, post mass-apocalyptic equatorial quake and subsequent new land divisions?)

X
- X-Ray (X-ray of a body, bones as map pieces, connections from bits to bits)
- Xerox Machine (there's lots of parts in a big one!)

Y
- Yellow Submarine

Z
- Zoot Suit Riot

I dunno, bored... Chuck some ideas out.

:P

Merry Christmas all!

L -
Lilliput... actually, this would just be one territory in a sweet Gulliver's Travels map, which is such a good idea I might try it.

Q -
Quilting Project... 16 map makers each make a square, we put them together. Another good idea.

X -
Xanadu... an Olivia Newton John tribute map. A really bad idea.

Z -
Zoo... but not the Atlanta Zoo, which has been tried and was a terrible idea.

Now that I'm spending a year in SoCal I figure I'm as likely a candidate as anyone to make this work. It's probably third on my list behind the Mayans and the oft-attempted High Seas map. And I'd love to turn the magic kingdom into a map... you know, the happiest place on earth, Walt's world; I forget the actual (copyrighted) name. But I really do think Gullivers Travels would make for a brilliant map - we need to get some literature on this web site other than mid/late 20th century fantasy/sci fi.

This is a fun thread, but it may ultimately belong in map ideas. ??

And unriggable may be facing a forum ban for the above image.

here are my map ideas, free to be stolen, but if any of them get published i want my name somewhere on the map lol. just wanted to add that i hope nothing i say here is gonna offend anyone, especially the first idea i threw out, theyre just ideas. its also late, and im tired, so if anything doesnt make sense, just skip it.

j- jihad/crusades (might as well considering all the other damn war maps we have)

l- lunar landing/hoax/anything regarding our one and only moon, examples or ideas could be taken from the risk 2210 game

o- oj simpsons career. it would be like a downward spiral similar to circus maximus lol

q- quiz show board, anything from a fake jeopardy display to a deal or no deal thing where the bonuses could be ever changing similar to dim's riddler idea (that is dim's idea right? its late and im tired, so im just talking for the sake of it now) other ideas could include something similar to "double jeopardy" where you could get a double bonus for holding certain territs.

x- xenophobia which would be a huge build-up map. get as many men on your homeland as possible, then try to bombard the opponent to smithereens!!!!

y- young and elderly, could be like a combination of the "time and place" map concept as well as the age of merchants/ age of might idea of resource pairs that you must own for a bonus

z- zany zebras, take control of the herd! reunite colored families and get a bonus. first to wrangle them all wins

Not only that but the discussion forum seems like it isn't getting made.

I think the quilt map could really end up working out, except that with the size requirements people wouldn't have a lot of space to work with. 75x75 square each on the small map for even just 8 people...

If you're willing to do graphics, I might be able to carve out some time to whip up a map concept.... it'd be rough, since I suck at graphics, but I've had an LA map stewing at the back of my mind for months now.

Some time ago there was some discussion about letters of the alphabet not represented by maps. [necro-bump]

Since this thread was started, Operation Drug War and Luxembourg have made it into live play. V appears to have been missed from the original list, which leaves the following letters mapless: J Q V X Y Z...
