is this better spin?? or perhaps i should write "the complete idiot's guide to finding villages" ?? would that help??

you have color in legend color in the shields houses drawn on the map. do you really think it's necassary to add coloured text glows and even more shields in the legend? or perhaps i should go as far as hiring private tutors for each player?? do you really have nothing better to do than spill bullshit in the forum? if you used this time to learn more photoshop perhaps you could actually do something good with crosswords. i made an image better than yours in 15 minutes for crosswords. you've spent a few hours bullshiting the foundry. and yet in the crossword thread you say you don't have time to finish such a major project. let's be serious. you have no idea what map making is all about and yet you act up all big and cocky when it comes to your map and you keep whining and cryoing the foundry is unfair when things don't go your way.

i have only this to say: suck it up cupcake.

Image

btw. if you can't think of something constructive please stop trolling. coming here to post just for the sake of posting really sucks ;)

DiM, I'm not sure how you could have misinterpreted that so badly.

rebelman is saying that there are people that like and hate every map and that the general community isn't something easily defined.

And then he went on to say that he believes he will be able to win a lot of points playing this map and wants it to be quenched.

He was not attacking you at all, he was trying to support you. So what the hell man? :?

hey i'm not a native english speaker and i just woke up from a very short sleep after a very tiring night at work.

sorry bout that.

plus i've been told before i made AoM so confusing so i could have an advantage over other players and take their points. so i thought that history is repeating now

I've had those days. I think you've successfully refuted that suggestion. I've been ready to see this quenched for a while. The xml is finished correct? Could we have a repost and I'll pass my feelings on to Andy?

DiM's just finishing up the XML...

Can't wait to see this one up there...

Hopefully the first 1 start territory...

Looking forward to a 6 player FOW game on this... who's in?

look in the post above coleman.

and yeti_c, yep i just finished the xml. it has:
Summary: 0 errors and 92 warnings detected in AoR.xml (199 continents, 93 territories)

but it's ok despite the many warnings

if i remember correctly AoM also had a whole lot of warnings :P

and indeed FOW will be great on this map. you won't know almost anything until quite a few turns in the game. i can already imagine advancing through neutrals with 20 armies and suddenly hitting a 100 troops enemy force

I was thinking the same thing, this will be very good for Fog of War assassin. You won't know which castle houses your target for a ways in. I'd imagine dock value would rise even more for scouting purposes. You could see a lot of the map that way.

It's interesting, I've discovered I hate Fog of War, and I hate assassin, but together they are one of my new favorite game types.

yep imagine having your target next door and you're roaming all over the map looking for him

and to add to all the confusion you can't even get clues in the log file.

for example on classic map if in the log it says:

Coleman receives 3 armies for holding ?

you'll immediately know he has africa since that's the only +3 bonus. but here all the bonuses are +1 and +2 and you'll have no idea what the other guy has.

Ok dim I made a perfectly resonable post (and no i cant tell what the villages are, a bunch of brown blobs could be anything  ) another example of the foundery being threatening, mabye a poll could be put in place becouse I assume it is not just me who had this problem!

Is this a legitimate concern or are you attempting to delay the map with small suggestions like this?

The shield outline is orange, the text in the legend is orange, the brown blobs very closely resemble small wooden buildings that look like they are part of a village.

I'd advise against a poll, they take too long. Can we discuss this one out? Obviously DiM doesn't want to have to put the shields for castles and villages in the legend, but if he did would that solve this?

It is a legitamate concern i cant stop this from being quenched so I am hopeing to improve it before it is (is my opinion being taken seriously?) I realy think there should be a shield added on the legend with the outline (and mabey a text outline) saying that tey are villages, I think u need to change it now or when it gets quenched ppl will complain and then there will be requests to change it

I could see this being necessary with villages.

I take back thinking you need it on castles. Castles will be very obvious to everyone since that's where everyone starts and the bonus will be received for them right away.

The sanctuary is also obvious because the territory is named Sanctuary.

I think there is dead space on enough maps that the normal shields don't need to be explained.

Honestly, if adding a village shield is all DiM needs to do to get this quenched I think it is a good move, and will probably prevent the last area of potential confusion with the way territories are represented.

i just stared at this map for 10 minutes and have no idea what is going on. I won't be playing this map but for those that do, DiM, I suggest you have a faq ready before it goes live.

Look into considering that DiM.

Also, would it be possible to alter the Gold Mine/Gold Mint't Shield to have a little more orange it? Even though I know the territory name is with the shield, I think it might just help clear up ANY color confusion between it and the yellow wheat fields.

this map is going to be fun. I avoided commenting because I had no idea what the heck was going on for a while. Then I come in and it's basically finished with no problems from my viewpoint.

very good job guys (if you start up any private games and you have space, keep me in mind please).

I do agree about the legend mark for villages (even though it was very clear to me). It can't hurt to add it.

sorry for making this comment so late in the day but it only struck me now, when looking at /admiring this map again the autodeploy needs to be mentioned on the legend.
