Okay, I'm undecided here, what should be done with this?

Coleman wrote:Yes, the only difference is they go through 12 neutrals and have an overpowered territory that can attack the whole bracket and all the quarters in the other ones.

In my version, they can go through 8 and get some limited access or they can go through 28 for the same effect. They need two leaders to go both ways and their semi to attack their whole area. Actually its less of an effect, it's way more cumbersome. They have to give something up to attack more of the board and they can't do it from one territory.

12 does not equal 28.

I will continue to defend this issue until you're willing to let it go or you can convince me that the semis should break the entire game.
Thats fine. You can do what you want especially if you have support from other players. All I am saying is that if this is supposed to be a bracket, I would not add new territories.
Plus I should have mentioned this before. I don't think that territories should be able to attack everything before them.

But I will say again. If I am the only one who thinks this then I will be quiet and let the map go without bringing any of this up again.

Good Luck. The map looks good.

I'm not against changing it a bit, but I don't want semis to be godlike for only 12 neutrals. Thanks for your understanding, if a couple more people are on your side and nobody backs me up I can make the change, but I'd really rather not, as previously stated.

This is a really interesting idea! I dont think that "All boxes can attack backwards to all prior connected boxes" is a good idea though. It seems to ruin the theme...but im not sure if its possible (or fair) to play with only forwards :?

That was the problem. I don't think it ruins the theme too much, as by being Q1 for example you are sort of implying you have dominion over everyone who can eventually reach that point.

I started with a theme, and then I had to botch it up to make the gameplay work. #-o

Well... I know I probably shouldn't comment on my own map like a poster, but pretending I was someone else.

Someone Else wrote:Your spacing for the Leader Boxes isn't the same in both maps. On the Large Map you have the bottom of the Red Leader in line with the quarter to semi line. On the small It is slightly above it. I like the way it looks on the small better. You should move the leader boxes on the large map up a bit.
Alright...

Someone Else wrote:Where you place all the text in the boxes is very inconsistent. Look at where you put A3 in the green area and then where you put it in the red area. Not the exact same part of the box. You need to comb over the map and make things look professional. On that same note, your blue line from the quarters to semi on the small is very crisp but the rest of the lines are blurry, make them all crisp like the Blue quarters to Semi line
Might as well do that now I guess... I was hoping to get to it later after the major suggestions were done. Maybe I'm already at that point?

Someone Else wrote:And another thing. I thought the spacing on a lot of the boxes was inconsistent. Turns out some of your boxes aren't even the same size! How the hell did you manage that!? That's terrible!
So is talking to myself at 2 am, 1 am if you have the messed up daylight savings. I'll get to fixing it. I guess all my next work involves polishing. Pixel Pushing I should say.

Someone Else wrote:Why is your header line spaced so much better on the small map?
Damned if I know. I'm not confident it's spaced better though. On the large map the text is left aligned to the left side of the boxes and right aligned to the right side. On the small it is just spaced even across with complete disregard to the boxes below, which may throw people off. I don't know which I like better or if it even matters one way or the other.

Could you tone down the brightness of the Leader boxes? They looked better as a dark grey.

sorry, but are you supposed to conquer just ONE of the finals, or BOTH of the finals to win? cos the text just says, "Conquer FINAL" which is singular, which can be interpreted as one of Final L and Final R.

if it is meant to be one of, then it also should be stated, cos the 'Final' may also be interpreted as both L and R as a whole.

either way, i think it should be made clearer (: great idea btw!

Could someone tell me which box they think looks the best on each version? (Excluding Final and Leader Boxes)

That would help me a lot with making the image more consistent, better looking.

Are you talking about sizing or colors or what?

I am no expert - but everything in version 12 looks really good. My only concern is that the light green for SG is a little pale/light on the Small map (looks fine on the Large).

Also, the boxes in the green section don't seem to have the same thickness of black border (or shadow) as do the rest of the sections.

On a side note - when this map gets quenched I was hoping to run an NCAA March Madness II tourney [as I was the last one with host permissions] on this map. So, I'm asking for your permission - or are you planning on hosting one of your own?

Yeah, I was asking for which box looked the best, and then I'd try to make them all that size and spacing, since I'm not sure myself, but they aren't all consistent for some reason.

You don't need to ask my permission to do that but thanks. :) That would be fine. I was going to do the "Bracket Bracket Tournament" or something along those lines, but I doubt it would be the same format as yours.

I guess you've already fixed the boxes because they all look the same to me. the only thing I see is the drop shadow on all the red text to the left. Maybe it's too much, or the grey isn't working on the white background. It's hard on my eyes and kind of looks like double vision.

Maybe you could put a background behind it or the map? Like the wood planks of a basketball court or something?

But overall looks good and a fresh idea that i can't wait to play!

bspride comments carry a lot of weight (I view him a co-author), so I'll see what I can do for both of those.

As for the wooden plank/court background... I'll try it out next update. This would be getting done faster but I have a lot of stuff I'm putting first.

Interesting idea. But, I don't think Coleman will take it.

1) It goes against the goal of the map - move forward through the bracket and conquer Final. The Champ boxes don't exactly go along with that aim - but at least you have to move forward to get to them.

2) The 2s connected to neighboring 1s still doesn't address the issue behind the Champ boxes [opponent on other side of the map in Assassin]. With this method Blue gets a 2nd connection to Green (Semis) and Red the same 2nd connection to Purple. Alas Blue/Green still has no connection to Red/Purple NOR vice versa. In order to win an assassin game - it would make more sense to just conquer the objective than to kill your target.

3) Coleman is currently on VACATION - Optimus Prime is account sitting for another 3 or 4 or 5 days.

1. the only reason this would be used is to keep people from complaing.
2.Assassin mode sucks...
3. Have a good vacation

I think this would make a great battle royal map if you make it you must own both 1and2 before you can move to the next round
