Don't now why people on here don't like being cooks, remember under siege: A former SEAL, now cook, is the only person who can stop a gang of terrorists when they sieze control of a US Navy battleship.

new poll.
i have 4 project in line after this one so i want to know on which one to work. it doesn't matter what the projects are about (they're all brilliant) that's why i put just 1,2,3 and 4 in the poll.

please vote.

You do realize that the winner SHOULD be 2 or 3?

1 and 4 are "outliers" and therefore probably won't be voted for as often. Then again, we have enough outliers here in the community.

Taking that into account that leave 2 or 3, which should be split about evenly. Well, at least when the options are a b c d. Seeing as how they are 1 2 3 4, some people like being #1, whilst some like being the biggest (#4), and the others should be split (possibly 3 getting a slight edge since it's bigger).

My guess is the final result will be:

1 - 23%
2 - 28%
3 - 30%
4 - 19%

My middle of the night instincts tell me to crush this poll and delete all messages about it since it doesn't seem to have anything to do with this map...

The little voice I actually listen too said no. So it still exists. :?

I voted for 3 because I associate it with C and everyone knows on a multiple choice test you always pick C when you have no clue what is going on.

Back on Topic
Could we see three digit numbers on the small map as they would appear in game with two digits centered?

I have a theory that your small map may be fatally flawed as it currently is. I hope to be proven wrong so I can pester the powers that move maps to forge this.

My primary focus of fear is an army digit overlap in the north east with Lof and Figye. The cardinal sin of map mistakes.

i don't have the place to fit the story but there might be a chance for this story to appear. just read bac a few posts where me rebelman and yeti_c discusses this very thing.

indeed the poll is not on topic but it is related to map making. i didn't put the names of the maps in the poll because they would give away the idea behind the project and i don't want that. i have those for projects in 4 separate folders named 1-4 i'm still pondering these ideas because as usual they aren't all possible at this point mainly because of the xml/map restrictions.

anyway regarding the 3 digits. you told me no xml is required for FF hence i slacked around and didn't finish it. but if you look back i've mode around the shields to accommodate 3 digits without overlaps. that ones seems to be indeed a problem so i'll simply move one up and one down to make sure they fit.

if you see any more than please post.

I think the green color is too light. the whole map gives me this kind of cabbage-stew feel to it. I'd like to see more deeper and saturated greens in there, but I don't think you make that change at this point. Also the legend still suffers from some basic design flaws. the background marble texture has too much contrast and the words don't stand out as they should. I would tone it down and darken it. The corners also bug me. Overall this map has a general sense of incongruity to it from the texture to the colors. Sorry to be so late in the game with this, but it really just looked different to me this morning.

the green of the land used to be darker then people said it's too dark so i lightened it.
i had the same problem with the sea. people said it's not dark enough so i made it darker.
and now with the legend some said the darker version is better some preferred the lighter one.
when it comes to things like this i either go with the majority or go my way since it's impossible to please everybody.

as for the legend corners same issue as with the darkness some like it like this some want it different. since the majority wanted it simple i stuck with it.

the legibility of the legend seems ok to me even in the small map. i specifically asked for feedback on this when i presented the small and nobody complained. you mean you can't read it? and yet you tell me to tone it down and darken it? but wouldn't that make it even less readable?

what do you mean it looked different this morning? i haven't changed anything major in quite some time. it has kept it's general aspect for the last few updates. maybe you're having one of those days where everything goes wrong.
go with the friends for a beer, then take the lady for dinner, get jiggy when you get home and then get a good sleep. tomorrow you'll see things differently. :D

based on your prediction im part of the 19% i voded 4 because a/ i reckoned it needed a boost (although I was oneof the first to vote) and b/ to piss off DiM as I assume this is the project he has least interest in working on

i'm interested in all the projects if any of them was less interesting i wouldn't have put it in the poll. if i had time i would work on all of them. but i don't hence the poll to see which one

im just not a fan of the pastel color scheme. i suppose since the map is in the style of the tojan war map, i'd like to see the richness of the color scheme repeated, but its not a big deal, just person preference.

for the legend corners, i think a few people suggested televanias slanted corners would look good, i agree. Just from a design perspective it's nice to see different elements of a piece work well together and act like they belong there. this isnt really the case with the current legend. it looks like an after thought. as for the contrast, i would tone down the background so the white on dark is more visible. right now there are some areas where its white on dark and some areas where its white on beige, making it less than legible. no use making the eye work harder than it needs to.

not a fan of rich colors. more of a pastel or monochrome person. hence the color palette.

yes some wanted simple straight corners some wanted round or slanted. since there wasn't a very clear majority i abused my powers and kept it the way it is.

as for the legend color. hmm i'll see. i don't mind toning down. i'll wait to see if others think so.
