Game # 10475

See the map just before I begin my last turn:

http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f44/M ... middle.png

As you all know, green player always plays before the blue player, but the green player (General Mayhem) leave his borders undefended against 17 armies, not 10, see the game log:

2006-03-30 06:09:21 - General Mayhem receives 3 armies for 9 territories
2006-03-30 06:10:12 - General Mayhem deployed 3 armies on Jordan
2006-03-30 06:10:20 - General Mayhem attacked Euphrates from Jordan and conquered it from Marvaddin
2006-03-30 06:29:17 - General Mayhem attacked Nejd from Jordan and conquered it from Marvaddin
2006-03-30 06:30:42 - General Mayhem attacked Hejaz from Jordan and conquered it from Marvaddin
2006-03-30 06:33:42 - General Mayhem fortified Euphrates with 8 armies from Syria
2006-03-30 06:34:19 - General Mayhem fortified Jordan with 6 armies from Cyprus

2006-03-30 06:34:57 - General Mayhem fortified Israel and PT with 5 armies from Jordan
2006-03-30 08:11:00 - General Mayhem gets a card
2006-03-30 08:44:10 - hunting_high receives 4 armies for holding Turkey
2006-03-30 08:44:10 - hunting_high receives 3 armies for 9 territories
2006-03-30 08:44:52 - hunting_high deployed 7 armies on Georgia
2006-03-30 08:45:17 - hunting_high fortified Georgia with 7 armies from Izmir
2006-03-30 08:45:30 - hunting_high fortified Georgia with 1 armies from Antakya

See:
- the green player frontiers were: Syria 9, Cyprus 7.
- the blue player frontiers were: Izmir 17, Antakya 11.

And then, green leave the borders tottaly undefended against 17 armies, and blue player didnt attacked him. Why?

From the game chat:
2006-03-30 10:54:41 - Marvaddin: By the way, General and Hunting have a secret alliance, dont you?
2006-03-30 11:08:10 - Kevin: Marv, I trust you are just making that up? How could you know that? You shouldn't disparage players without real knowledge of the facts.
2006-03-30 11:18:15 - Marvaddin: Hmm, I think that isnt suspect General leave his borders undefended and Hunting doesnt attack him?
2006-03-30 11:23:34 - Kevin: Suspicious -- yes. Cheating -- that's something else entirely.
2006-03-30 11:32:16 - Kevin: Good job, Marv. Game was over too quickly. Thanks to all. See you next time
2006-03-30 11:34:08 - General Mayhem: i knew he wouldnt attack me there. i have too much armies. thats why marv
2006-03-30 11:38:40 - Marvaddin: Hahahah... And soon I will know if its an alliance. Next turn he will have 50 armies to attack me and you. So, if you attack me, its pretty obvious.
2006-03-30 11:40:33 - General Mayhem: bollocks to it - if you suspect then lets make it official HEY HUNTING, lets have an alliance between our borders?!

Kevin, the yellow player, said it was suspicious too. Now, see the General explanation, and see the map, what do you think? Could him know blue player wouldnt attack him? And you can read 17 in Izmir, as I said. See, the blue player isnt even gaining cards, and seems be happy about 8 armies deployed near him each turn. And just now I killed the yellow player, they are revealing an alliance...

Now, what you think? They were secret allies?

secret alliance

Postby Kevin on Thu Mar 30, 2006 2:51 pm

For the record: I saw nothing that made me feel in anyway whatsoever that General Mayhem and hunting_high were doing anything but playing the game fair and square throughout. I disagree with Marvaddin totally on this point. Kevin

You said it was suspicious, and Im saying the same thing. Im not saying they were cheating, but I want other players opinion about this. To me, General explanation is a joke.

Now, to all you know, the pm General Mayhem sent me:

"sorry about the single attacks. i needed an insurance policy as cyprus proved tough.

general

And, words of hunting_high, from the game chat, so you can conclude about a secret alliance:

2006-03-31 02:33:49 - hunting_high: From the rules: 2. No secret alliances. You must announce any alliance in the game chat.
2006-03-31 02:35:16 - hunting_high: 1. Coward Mayhem sent me a PM asking for a non-attacking agreement between Turkey and Near East.
2006-03-31 02:36:12 - hunting_high: 2. I answered: I have one rule in RISK: I ONLY attack the strongest.
2006-03-31 02:39:47 - hunting_high: 3. Coward Mayhem: "I'll take that as a yes for now friend. i wont attack you until we call of the agreement. PS. i aint the strongest yet . . . marv is
2006-03-31 02:40:36 - hunting_high: 4. I answered: "I belive we have the same understanding of the game at the moment."
2006-03-31 02:42:02 - hunting_high: 5. Long message from Mayhem asking if we still had the same understanding.
2006-03-31 02:42:45 - hunting_high: 6. I answer: "Yes, indeed"

2006-03-31 02:43:18 - hunting_high: That's all the communication. And I have a few comments:
2006-03-31 02:44:19 - Marvaddin: Well, are you admiting Mayhem contacted you for a secret alliance?
2006-03-31 02:44:41 - hunting_high: 1. The only thing I've said is that I attack the strongest, and at that time it was clearly Marv.
2006-03-31 02:45:51 - hunting_high: 2. I didn't promise anything - and if I did, I wouldn't feel commited to it. I would love to fool a coward trying to cheat...
2006-03-31 02:47:35 - hunting_high: So good luck, Marv. But I think it was wrong strategy to eliminate me at this point - but I hope you prove me wrong!
2006-03-31 02:51:14 - Marvaddin: Well, to be honest, I would attack you anyway, because it was my last chance... Maybe I can still win this game, thanks.

Again:
2006-03-31 02:44:41 - hunting_high: 1. The only thing I've said is that I attack the strongest, and at that time it was clearly Marv.

Is this a hidden alliance against me, or Im wrong?
Now, what do you think?

Marv was right. I was wrong. They did cheat and should be sanctioned or shunned.

Well, I won game 10475, even against a secret alliance. :D

Anyway, hunting_high admited the alliance / truce. This guy General Mayhem seems to have the bad habit of suggest secret alliances by pm to other players. See what he said:

2006-03-31 03:15:42 - General Mayhem: you pair of bad loasing miserable sulcking twats. Wars were never won without the use of secret intelligence and alliances. thats why we have spies

Lackattack, I know its your job, not mine, but I would like see these guys warned because of this game, maybe banned from playing together. Thanks.
