Some of my favorite bands from the late 70's to the 80's were the Cars, Van Halen, I can't really count AC/DC because they had been around in the mid if not early 70's, Devo (never actually get it though myself oh well), Tears For Fears (you can't forget them), Men at Work, and I guess I can count the Chili Peppers because they had their first nation wide hit in the late 80's and had already been big in California before that.

& rap can be freestyles & it doesnt need 2 have any musical tone, more like poetry while talking breezy, but Hip Hop is based on a beat & a chorus

What happened to classical and folk in your poll, you know the dominant music genres for 1950 of the past 2000 years.

I like Alternative Rock, post rock (Sigur Ros, Mono, etc), grunge, some classical (mainly boroque, with some exceptions), some prog (mainly just Pink Floyd, and Radiohead if they can be said to fit the genre), some Jazz (although I know very little about it), Rock and Roll (As distinct from Rock, people like Chuck Berry) and some mainstream Rock.

I listen to classical and instrumental soundtrack music (like from movies). "The Mummy Returns," "Far and Away," and "The Patriot" are my favorites.
