Just to say that if you want "verified"(blue name) status on the Discord, PM us here on CC with your Discord username. Some Discord accounts are brand new, or are not using their CC name, or we don't know the player, so we can't verify them yet.

At the moment, the blue name doesn't grant a higher level of access. It might in the future if we find new accounts abusing the server, or that kind of thing. Hopefully, it won't come to that.

I think this website missed out on 2 generations already. It can't afford to miss out the next.

Most simple fix to do that is to rebrand the website into a "2024 feeling" and by keeping the best 50 maps to freemiums (to keep the oldtimers happy access to the other 150 maps is only available for paying members)

It's too early to see that as the Discord is currently too small to attract in people from outside naturally. We need 1000 members to become "discoverable" on the Discord app itself. Discord is bringing that number down periodically (I think it started at 5,000)), so we might get there. At the moment, growing the server will be through word of mouth with members inviting their friends to come play a game or three.

I think the benefit to the site, and players, will be the ability to more easily arrange games with friends, especially real time games, since Discord is also a phone app. It was created for the existing player base, and if it results in an uptick in new members, that would be fantastic of course.

I've personally been using Discord for 8 years maybe and I play different board games with my friends from time to time.

I love the idea but it is -by itself- not gonna turn things?

Look, imagine your 16-26 years old and you join CC to check things out..

It's overwhelming? 200 maps to learn while the new kid expects a speedgame? Cut those 200 down to the best 20 maps with a nice tutorial for each and present (sell) the 24 hour game move better to hook em?

I do think that if freemiums or new accounts, lets say less than 1 year in cc get 1 speed game every day. A good portion of them would stick to the site and even buy premium.

Honestly? It's just an extension of the fact that TeeGee and I were already using Discord for the clan and it works well for that. We were like "why not do this for CC." BW agreed, and here we are.
