Climate change: World's hottest day since records began

The world's average temperature reached a new high on Monday 3 July, topping 17 degrees Celsius for the first time.

Scientists say the reading was the highest in any instrumental record dating back to the end of the 19th century.

The high heat is due to a combination of the El Niño weather event and ongoing emissions of carbon dioxide.

Researchers believe there will be more records in the coming months as El Niño strengthens.

The global average temperature for July 2023 is confirmed to be the highest on record for any month. The month was 0.72°C warmer than the 1991-2020 average for July, and 0.33°C warmer than the previous warmest month, July 2019.

The Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S), implemented by the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts on behalf of the European Commission with funding from the EU, routinely publishes monthly climate bulletins reporting on the changes observed in global surface air temperature, sea ice cover and hydrological variables. This month, highlights about sea surface temperature are also included in this press release. All the reported findings are based on computer-generated analyses using billions of measurements from satellites, ships, aircraft and weather stations around the world.

For what I consider crazy and unscientific reasons, the Republican Party has developed an opposition to the Climate change ideas, that some 97-98% of scientists in this field of study support.

It was the first real solid example of what I read is Tribalism, a one-sided view of things that discourages independent thinking by many persons. This viewpoint: "You must believe all our ideas 100% or you are not a true member of our Tribe."

Planned Parenthood is active wherever possible. Does a lot of good work helping people avoild unplanned pregnancies, which are the surest route to poverty. Doesn't seem to have changed the demographics anywhere though.

Dukasaur I agree, I have zero problem with a well implemented Euthanasia program. Primarily patients with fatal illnesses that want to go sooner and avoid the worst of the pain.
