Bad news...

Pochas & Santiago are not connected, even though they are docks connected by a dotted line.

Also, many of the ports do not connect to all the docks. However some connect to a couple.

EDIT: Actually many of the docks are not connected correctly at all.
Dorata connects to many places it doesn't border. Things are very broken. Fort Hope and Pampas aren't connected at all, yet Dorata connects to both of them.

Can I see your xml and fix all the borders or do you think you got it? I'm worried some places might be completely land locked as it stands right now. There are so many border mistakes it is hard to list them all. I'll try though in a bit.

List of Broken Dock Borders
Pochas & Santiago are not connected.
Solia & Falta are not connected.
Pampas connects to Dorata and should instead connect to Fort Hope
Fort Hope connects to Dorata and should instead connect to Pampas

I'm out of time at the moment, but most ports need...
Churacas
Solia
Falta
Pochas
Santiago
Pampas
Fort Hope
Val De Juro
Zio
...all added as borders, some ports have a few of these but not all.

I just checked it with BOB, the latest greasemonkey add on. I'll go see what xml lack updated, maybe he picked an old one.

<country>
<name>Puerto Allegre</name>
<borders>
<border>Traversa</border>
<border>Ricota</border>
<border>Muarito</border>
<border>Puerto Esperanza</border>
<border>Puerto Tiago</border>
<border>Puerto Castillo</border>
<border>Puerto Tranquillo</border>
<border>Puerto Modesto</border>
<border>Puerto Antigo</border>
<border>Puerto Grazio</border>
<border>Puerto Rico</border>
<border>Puerto Ventura</border>
</borders>

This has all the ports, but none of the docks. For a quick example.

EDIT: I just checked with the tool and it doesn't look right, and now I see that Colato and Gringo are connected, they shouldn't be.

i revised the whole xml and all the connections seem ok now.

unfortunatelly i'm not so good at xml. i managed to understand the connections and all and i corrected them. but the bonuses are still a mistery. i hope those are good.

one thing i noticed is that tobacco is in some places called herbs.
or am i mistaking?

should i replace herbs with tobbacco in all the places?

i have no idea :?

and yeti_c is not online to tell me what he meat by herbs and tobacco :(

ok i replaced herbs with tobbaco.

from what i understand yeti_c used herbs to define santiago resource in some places and tobacco to define the same resource in some other places.

after loking at the way the other resources are given bonuses i think removing herbs and replacing it with tobacco is the right thing.

so here's the xml:

and direct link:

I took a look at the XML above. I don't know what your final version should look like, but the one above does not appear to use the new XML. Should it? I would think it would have been a LOT easier with <overrules>.

Overruling continent bonus
Instead of a <bestof> tag how about a set of <overrule>s, like this:
Code: Select all
<continent>
   <name>Any 4 Kings</name>
   <bonus>5</bonus>
   <components>
      <component>Red King</component>
      <component>Green King</component>
      <component>Blue King</component>
      <component>Purple King</component>
      <component>Yellow King</component>
   </components>
   <required>4</required>
   <overrules>
      <overrule>Any 2 Kings</overrule>
      <overrule>Any 3 Kings</overrule>
   </overrules>
</continent>

the -2 bonuses are probably the worst part of the incorrect xml.

it seems that currently in most cases, if you control two ports plus a market in a "foreign" continent, then you get -2 per resource pair, instead of the +2.

In mopping up a game just now, in taking the final 2or3 ports, my bonus dropped from 77 to 33!!

Let's hope the proper xml goes live soon

Hi Sparqs,

I considered recoding the XML...

The Required tags wouldn't work - as there are some bits that are Required and some that are optional.

You are right that the Overrules tags could replace some of the negative bonuses for the foreign market rules...

But I'd spent a fair while coding it all using the existing system - I felt it deserved to stay with the complicated logic instead of using the overrules...

Also the naming for Overrules means that I would have to name stuff differently...

I may consider a recode later... but it's immaterial!

Ah yes - I see what is wrong with the negative bonuses...

I put the wrong sign in for all 4 ports bonus...

I will correct and send a new copy to DiM & Lack.

EDIT - I have done that... hopefully it will be uploaded soon...

Another case for Beta testing areas for maps? Pictures get picked apart for months... and the XML only gets tested once live!

I think DiM already fixed the xml, but maybe not. I thought we were just waiting for lack.

I just played an RT and I found fort hope did not connect to Pampas and Gringo connected to Colato.

Not sure if its already mentioned or deliberate but I thought I should bring it up.

I was also checking the XML and found some things wrong:

-the negative bonus already mentioned (all 4 ports should be +2 in stead of -2)
-For all foreign recourse pairs you have Torales in the XML, while that is the Factory. It should be Chino!!!!!

In the section for Top right --> Duna Market you have the ports wrong. you only mention the ports of the top right Islands and not the ports of the Duna Market Island.
