One of the things about Risk is that there is an element of chance involved. We work to minimize that but there are always aspects that are subject to chance.
This tournament is all about chance.
Every round you will be randomly paired with partners that you may or may not know. It could be doubles. It could be quads, or triples. Or even a poly set or two. You donāt know
You also donāt know the settings. Sunny/fog. Trench or not, nuclear/zombie/escalating/flat/no card. 20/30/50/100 rounds. Chained/adjacent/parachute/none
The only givens are the map each round and that it will be automatic, sequential and 24 hours and there will be no 1v1 (except poly). No terminator and no assassin
For the maps, we are going to explore the history of war. Maps
So. Over 10 weeks you will get 30 games. You should have a variety of different teams and settings to play. Some May suit you better than others, thatās chance are work.
Scoring is simple. 1 point per win.
Finals round. All player with 20 or more wins qualify for the finals. As an incentive to have t he monst, the player with the most points will select 2 of the game settings (to be determined later as we see how many qualifiers there are).
Since mysteryforall asked why happens if nobody reaches 20 wins, should it happen what i will do is take anyone with 19 wins. If there are less than 20 players with 19 wins we will take anyone with 18 wins as well. And so forth until we have at least 20. Note. This 20 player minimum only applies if nobody makes it to 20. If 3 players have 20 then those three are the only ones in the finals.
For the finals we will use a different set of maps
Due to the game load you must have a premium to enter but all entries will be accepted. We will start playing the first week of February however participants may join after the start date they just wonāt have the opportunity to go back and make up weeks they have missed.
[spoiler=Final standings.
366 games completed. 1 active. Projecting barterer2002 and Nut Shot Scott winners).
I'd also like to advocate for the removal of No Forts as a setting. That's not just a different setting, it's the complete removal of an important game mechanic. In my opinion it RUINS the game and everyone hates it except for the criminally insane. I dread playing 7-8 games over the next 10 weeks on that setting.
