I used to play serious chess in my younger days, and in serious chess it's considered incredibly rude to piss around and drag things out instead of resigning as soon as its obvious that your position is untenable. People have better things to do with their time than sitting around playing a game that's already decided.

Let's talk about this very plainly:
- throwing games - referring to games where you cause you (and potentially others) to lose on purpose with intent.
- intentional deadbeating - joining games with the intent to never play a turn. This cannot be represented by just one game.
Where is the gross abuse of the game? Do you honestly believe that someone who has taken turns at the start of the game, and through the events of the game, decides that there is no possible way they will win the game, and that a faster way to end the game is to DB, is in violation of site rules?

Well I actually argued the exact same thing before we had a resign button for trench games, and I was told that yes indeed it's still a violation of the site rules.
We are now in a different situation thanks to the resign button.
So for no trench game, it's extremely rare that it is faster to deadbeat than to finish the games. Except Hive and USA2.1 I don't think there is many maps you can't clean within 3 turns if the game is over for one player.
I can take dozens of examples easily in my finished speed games where my opponent just quit a no trench speed game and I was able to finish in 2 turns or would have in 3 easily.
Consider most speed games are played on small maps, but players still prefer to deadbeat, actual reason is they don't give a shit about their opponent waiting alone for the game to finish.
So, if your point was people deadbeat because it's faster than finishing the games, what do yo do of all the other games that are deadbeated ( vast majority) while it's actually NOT faster to deadbeat ?

The continued comparison to chess is utter BS. Chess is not risk. Risk is not chess. Two equally skilled people in chess can draw / stalemate with some regularity. Risk involves dice. Dice involves a measure of luck. Not something that chess draws its game from.
If you wanna talk opposites at least have an honest fucking conversation about it and stop with this horse shit of a comparison.

.... a game is only interesting as long as the outcome is in doubt. As soon as the winner is certain, all participants rapidly get bored, and any further time spent is just an annoyance.
Any game that forces you to keep playing after the winner is certain, is a game with a design flaw. Period. That's pretty straightforward and honest.
