Guess what, when I am getting my butt kicked in a speed game, I dead beat. Oh boo hoo it is against the rules.

Better that and end the game then both of us sit there and drag out a decided game.

if games decided just drop ...whats stupid is how bad db has become ..but some problems i guess we just cant fix ...how it got here is sad but its only going to get worse i fear ....over 50 percent of speed games have one or more db ...the members warned in the past well some continue to db most un winnable games ....one of the main draws to premium membership is speed games ..if we lose renewals what then less speeders then currently play now. some of the premium members are avoiding speed games for this reason .the way we got here is lack of enforcement of the rule i feel if members were to receive a short ban the message would be clear ..

Why would they punish DB? They've expanded resign so its easier then ever to quit games, they dont even have to deadbeat in some of them anymore.
If anything, they should remove the punishment for DB'ing because they've allowed people to resign, which is essentially the same thing. Its so common and now "accepted" practice to quit games that aren't over, so who really cares anymore?

Now, unless you are intentionally dumping points I really dont see the point in warning / punishing anyone who deadbeats speed games (or any really, since I'm sure they'll keep expanding the resign button until everyone can quit whenever they feel like it).

currently its a violation to db with a one month ban attached ..your opinion is scary as u were a mod dealing with the issue .the rules on site are simple join a game play a game . its the lack of enforcement buy mods such as yourself in the past that has gotten us to a high rate of db ..ppl do care.. in multi player speed games of 3 mins if 3 db that game it adds close to 30 mins added to that game .is that fair to the 3 who didnt db ..plus the regions the member is in and dbs are easy territories to take creating another advantage ..so to you its just not an issue clearly but as the rule still stands why should the current mods not enforce it ..

I know its currently a violation. I was mainly assisting as a MH, but my personal opinion doesn't override rules enforcement. You can separate the two. Enforce one while disagreeing. :o Shocking I know.
I also argued against the resign button because we continue to punish DB'ers. Im my mind, they're the same thing so if you punish one, you shouldn't implement a fast lane for people to quit games. If you do, then stop punishing others for DB. Again, personal opinion. Not saying thats the way the rules currently read. I didn't say it wasn't an issue. You have a severe reading comprehension problem mate.

no reading issues here ..the resign feature helps save time .the fact the site implemented this option was a good thing but seldom used as the i db is too common place ..u asked why would they punish the db s i answered ...dbs like speeding most do it now as no real past enforcement took place ..50 percent of speed games may be a bit high but its close to were the site db percentage sits =D> =D> .to isolate you for this is not fair its just a on going problem that needs attention ...the member last warned wasted 3 hours18mins in 34 games this simply is just not fair to our members ...

IcePack, deadbeating and resigning are two different things for a simple reason.
If your opponent resigns, the game is over and you can do something else.
If your opponent deadbeats you have to stay and wait patiently until your opponent misses 3 turns.
I hope you can appreciate the difference.

Sure you might decide to do something else even if you opponents deadbeats but they are some players that come back to play a turn after two misses if you are missing turns as well, and as far as I know those scumbags dont even receive a punishment.
Some players also come back because they didnt intend to deadbeat but really missed one turn, and it is not easy to make the difference especially when half the deadbeaters leave without saying anything.

You and I have argued this to fucking death. We dont need to keep having the same round and round fucking debate. You aren't changing your mind, neither am I.

Intentional deadbeating is still not allowed especially if it is being done regularly. This is not a first time about an intentional deadbeating case. He has been issued a warning.

Because there is a difference between db'ing and joining games with the intent to db, duh. Life happens, which can cause a db. Shit gets real. db'ing one game isn't going to get you a warning.

Also, just for the record, I strongly echo IP's sentiments about your reading compression skills...

It might appear that it isn't enforced but not many complaints are filed about deadbeating. I don't go looking for deadbeaters. We try to take into consideration that people get distracted, internet problems or something else comes up. We take a look at recent games and look for a pattern. Taking turns in one game and deadbeating in other games.

I don't join speed games because I don't want to be glued to the computer. I get distracted [squirrel] easily. I also don't want to waste my time when someone decides to quit because my dice or drop was better.

its reached new levels percentage wise half the speed games have one or more db ...sad u dont play them as a result of a few db ..there fun !! i am reluctant to post past offenders because the 30 day ban but may change that to help stop it ..perhaps if a few got this ban it would send the message to all ...speed games are not for all agreed but the db s are stopping members from joining your self included m8 ..

Every game you start is a risk. Different games, have different risks. Saying you shouldn't have a risk of joining a speeder and being surprised by someone pretending to deadbeat... is just plain stupid. I do take into account the time, but that is time you have to spend one way or the other. You complain about time it takes to deadbeat...how long would the game continue to take if they played all the way through? Most cases, I would argue that it would take longer. So you should expect to spend at least that much time, maybe more than the time it would take for them to DB. That is not "extra" time that you have to "wait". That literally is part of the game that you signed up for, to spend time on, whether thats playing, or waiting. You set time limits, from 1-5 mins. If you aren't prepared to play / wait until the game ends, DONT. START. IT.

And you'd be wrong. In the vast majority of cases it's faster to finish the games. But again you barely play speed games so how would you know....
So just fyi, vast majority of opponents deadbeating in 1vs1, if it's not trench it takes between 2 and 3 turns to finish. So if the opponents plays, his turns are much faster than if he deadbeats, and it takes same number of turns, so it's faster to play.

This is non-sense. You are arguing something pointless.
Deadbeating IS FORBIDDEN. Stop pretending deadbeating is allright and that we should acccept it. CC doesn't accept it.

@zeus, don't waste time with debating with IP. Not worth it.

Thanks for summing it up clearly. Here that's all there is to know about speed games and deadbeating.
We've got people NOT playing speed games because of the deadbeaters, hence it's harmful to the site and we should consider how to solve the problem, because for the people actually playing speed games, it is a problem.

There needs to be a way then maybe to not allow someone who deadbeats into your games.Probably should go to suggestions with this but see what you guys think first. How about introducing a FOE button?

foe option was fine when site had greater numbers but speed game players are limited and dropping the db s are out of control to the close to 50 percent of all speed games have one or more dbs ..i have foed the real bad members who consistently db but that makes speed games harder to fill ...

Even if we forget about the low number of speed games available, this doesn't solve the problem for people that think like Evil Semp and therefore do not play speed games.

There is a major issue with deadbeating in speed game. Most people actually think it's allowed to deadbeat because so many people do it.

I think the best way to decrease deadbeating in speed games is advertising the rule ( intentionnal deadbeating is forbidden) in some way, combined with a harsh law enforcement of this one for a while ( i am thinking lots of warnings and maybe 1 week ban, not harsher because we don't want to lose too many players either).

And ofc a resign button with less constraints. (I hear you IcePack but we're talking about how to decrease deadbeating, you are on the wrong topic).

Here a sample of a common response someone made me when I asked him to not deadbeat a speed game :

They shold have a resign feature in here! I can't apologize for cutting out of that one. It would have been a waste of my time. Besides, people quit against me all the time when they see the game is lost. I don't care, that's fine, and I can't blame them.

Not the first time I see that, it's a pretty standard response. People think everyone is doing it so it's allright to do it.

We'd need a resign button available sooner for 1vs1 and especially getting rid of the 50% troops to be allowed to resign.
Before the 50% rule was implemented, I noticed a decrease of deadbeat in trench speed games. Since we changed that many people don't wait for the button to appear anymore.
It's especially a problem in baltic crusade ( probably the most popular map for 1vs1 trench speed) because of all the auto deploy that makes it difficult to have twice more than your opponent sometimes.

No youre wrong. See, we can play the "youre wrong without facts" game all fucking day.

That literally is part of the game that you signed up for, to spend time on, whether thats playing, or waiting. You set time limits, from 1-5 mins. If you aren't prepared to play / wait until the game ends, DONT. START. IT.

This is non-sense. You are arguing something pointless.
Deadbeating IS FORBIDDEN. Stop pretending deadbeating is allright and that we should acccept it. CC doesn't accept it.

I've never said its alright. I KNOW its forbidden. Holy f*ck. My point is, to allow resign and forbid deadbeat is pointless. They're the same fucking thing. DB'ing is common (thats what zeus is pointing out) and really nobody gives a shit anymore (except you, cuz you wanna expand resign games so you keep throwing people in C&A for deadbeating so you can justify resign expansion later) Before the resign button, it essentially was accepted practice to DB speed trench games (unofficially, still "against" the rules but widely practiced by speed trenchers like you who were breaking rules forever until you got your little quit the game button added by rigging the poll)
