and sorry, you obviously have not followed the past 3 weeks within CC. he was first warned in global for using a variation of the word. he then moved to the GD Forum and did the same, where he was warned. he offended yet a THIRD time, claiming to not know how or why the word was offensive. Team CC then posted to CLARIFY the bigotry guideline rules, which have existed for almost a decade:

this has nothing to do with me. this has to do with someone not understanding what is and isnt racist. this has to deal with a user that was given more than a fair chance to leave it alone, but he continued to needle CC, daring them to ban him. the ban hammer fell. as CC's most banned active member, i too have fallen to the folly that i was above the rules. guess what, nobody is. no matter how visible, how active, how vocal you are, you can and will be banned for gross abuse of CC rules. this was not a ONE OFF event. this was a progression (very similar to a forum melt down i had before one of my 6 month bans. not proud of it, but i admit to it and i did the time) of abuse.

to those of you that find it ridiculous to ban VARIANTS of the word, you are obviously not black. a prior ADMIN once contacted me over my concerns of being called N-shooter within the forums. i was told, "i looked in the dictionary and online and was unable to find any instance of "N-shooter being racist or even an actual word." yeah, right then i started pressing for bigotry guidelines. and don't be daft, nobody is banning the use of a country's proper name, as long as it is not taken out of context and hurled as a racist epithet (as is my understanding of the rules). nobody is saying you can't have fun. the site is just enforcing the bigotry guidelines that are in place. to those of you that use the word casually, do so at your own risk. you obviously do not understand the word or what it means to black people.

Owen, the devil with you! Stop enjoying yourself it's unseemly. Our community does have some aggressive cancer of bigotry yes, still it has to be removed delicately or it will just return with twice it's vigor.

Just like betiko, probably because I'm also European, I think banning stuff like this should be subject to context rather than zero tolerance. The US can be very sensitive when it comes to swearing and stuff like this, much more than Europeans and others which I guess is why we have the ruling in the first place, but a private conversation between two guys obviously joking where riskllama, on the receiving end, isn't (oh god these fucking words) offended or triggered should not be rewarded with a 72h ban, regardless of previous incidents.

I think saying "Black fathers are all lazy and they abandon their kids and steal cars and traffic in human beings" is far more racist than any dirty word that exists. It doesn't even include any swear words. In this case the offending word is "all". Should the word "all" be banned from the forums (It should from some metaphysical argument about never using absolutes, but that's another story).

If I say "ham sandwich" and every time I say "ham sandwich" I mean the above accusation, isn't that just as bad? Words aren't racism. Ideas are racism.
