Hi mate, last time you spoke to me you said you had to explain to your son my actions in a BR game - good times :( lol Been a long time since i used BOB or map rank, conquer club is low on the list of my priorities ;) It's an escape from reality for a while - not that reality is bad but i'm sure you know what i mean.

I like your idea very much and would be very useful and interesting to see what you're up against in games - gets my vote. Good luck with it.

I simply think this is feasible considering the amount of active games on every map. It'll take long to reflect the 'true score' of every player on every map. This is not only the case for a score reset, but also in general. Giving the at that time conqueror, somebody who most likely is very specialised, his current score on all maps means he can simply keep playing his own game and reinforce his stats there, other players would have to step up on other maps before this even has an effect.

THIS! Settings are going to make a massive difference.

When you really master a map, you should be able to be competitive on any settings. Of course I know how trench, spoils, and fort definitely change the game play. But having a different score for each combination of map and setting would result in such a huge amount of different score, it would be non sense. If I am let's say the conqueror of King's Court, then it is ok I lose a lot of points when losing on this map, whatever settings I am playing. If I deserve my title I have to master the map and therefore be able to understand how another setting would affect the gameplay.

It's interesting Idea.
I've pondered similar ideas before.
It may have some drawbacks though, I think that new loopholes and ways to game the system will be created allowing for some to strategically inflate their score if it is not done correctly.
But doing it "correctly" might make it too complicated to do.

Maybe a simple way to do it:

- You have 2 scores, Overall score and Map score (starting at 1000)
- When playing a game, the formula for deciding points exchanged changes from
20 X (OverallScoreLoser)/(OverallScoreWinner)
to
20 x (OverallScoreLoser + MapScoreLoser)/(OverallScoreWinner + MapScoreWinner)

This works as an adjustment of the players overall score for each particular map. But still assumes that a high ranked player has a strong advantage over low ranked player on new map.
So if a 3000 player faces 1500 player on new map, the pts exchanged go from 40/10 (higher rank must win 80% to be even expected value) to 32/13 (high rank must win 71% to be even).

Not a huge adjustment, but it's something.

Edit:
Might make more sense to have Map Score be a Map Adjustment instead and start at 0 and go + or - from there.
Then your Map Score is your overall score + map adjustment.
Easy to do Leaderboards with that.

Is not more simple separate overall score / map score?

Well yes it is, but that's not what this suggestion is about. The suggestion is not about giving everyone a score for each map, but do adjust your point win/loss based on map experience. So that when a general play a major on a map he does not know but the major really master, he does not lose a lot of points. (
In this aspect, Jplo formula works. But still thinking a score reset would be necessary if we take Jplo's formula.

I agree with ch0rn: "I think it's a great idea. Having a conqueror for each map would also be pretty cool."

This system would also let opponents know how good a player is on a particular map. A player could have a CC rank of say LT, but it turns out that player wins 90% of his games on Europe 1914, but then loses his points on other maps.

Having the ability to track a players rank on each map serves multiple purposes.

Gives individual player incentive to improve on a particular map,

forwarns unknowing opponents of a players strength on the map

and expands the system so that now there is "A Best Player" for each an every map.

For those who get a high ranking on a partcular map, if they want to avoid risking alot of points, just take a break from the map you mastered and try a new map.

BUt how do you track experience on a map without a score?
