- The ability to reset one's statistics/profile upon reaching certain targets
Specifics/Details:
On many console games it is possible to reset your profile/statistics after reaching a particular target (tenth prestige on Call of Duty, for example). You don't change your name, simply the stats from your performances. People do this for various reasons, such as:
- Having learnt a great amount during the process they wish to demonstrate it afresh
- They have personal dislike regarding their statistics
- Desire of a fresh start, quite often due to a "burnt out" feeling
Of course, this is something I would enjoy personally (because why else would I suggest it?), but I believe it offers a lot of incentive to players on a general basis. The amount of players who aim to achieve every medal is ridiculous, and once they complete their task they could start again, or try something different. I do think an exception would have to be made for those who have won Championships, Clan Wars or reached Conqueror, as these are site-wide recognised achievements that should remain documented permanently.
One of the main reasons for not allowing multiple accounts is the ability to play "under the radar" - appearing to be a new, inexperienced player when in reality said player could have tonnes of experience and be a CC expert. If you cannot change your name when resetting stats then this would no longer be an issue. I don't believe there are many who've played in excess of 5,000 games that go unnoticed. Perhaps a symbol could be added to the player's profile if they did reset. I assume an archive would also be required.
I believe it best if the player in question also had zero active games.
How this will benefit the site and/or other comments:
- Give people new incentives to play
- Reduce number of multiple accounts
- Player happiness % increase
- Increased profit
- Increased membership
- Increased advertising
This is really off the cusp and I'm sure I will have changes/additions to make to this suggestion, as will others. Let the debate commence.
