I see loads of people going on about the great decline,going on about how quiet the forums are etc. But really look what happened and god help me for saying it.

We all used to be forum posters where people would be pissed off with what was being said, would even foe for it or even post telling us to shut up. Most of the above lost posting rights and are proberly on final warnings so are more careful of our posts changing us into average joes. But this has had a knock on effect as people do not visit the forums to see what arguements we have started what crap we are saying etc, and joining in with what ever the chat was about.

I say wipe our records and give us freedom of speech, then hopefully the forums would jump start back into what they used to be.

eddie... to be honest, they forums are moderated much differently now and they are far more lenient... the demise of the global mod position seems to have had a huge effect on the way the forums are moderated and how infractions are dealt with... team members have next to zero power in terms of dealing with infractions within the forums... they pretty much report it up the chain until it gets lost in the clutter on someone's desk...

the forums aren't moderated in the same way they were a few years ago... they don't lock your thread, put you in Guest's and then leave you there until it is sorted out... they just lock a thread, give you a little note and the beat rolls on... i think if you reached out to these past members and told them to come back, they may... if i was able to get DaGip to come back, you certainly can get JefJef to come back...

Some people leave for personal reasons that have nothing to do with the site. You have to respect that.


And owen, as far as locking posts and crap goes, we do have those powers. Those of us with the gold colour name can technically moderate a large portion of the site. Suggestions, Media and Discussions teams have been merged. However, until the rules are revamped/ made clear, I personally am not going to touch it with a ten foot barge poll unless I see something really terrible that needs to be locked like a noddy return. The forum is a total and utter crap hole. I do have specific duties however as a volunteer that have nothing to do with moderating forums, so I stick to that.

I am guessing either he put a ring on megas finger, or they split up. Either way i bet she banned him from cc .. I miss our forum wars was fun and games. I hate the forums because there are no posts to sit back with your morning coffee and laugh at the responses.

Eddie, I opened a business 15 months ago. So have premium but keeping my game count down. Am in 9active at present with about 3 pending. Mainly on here to visit with old friends in game chat. The forums are pretty boring at present. A lot of single issue tub thumpers with the collective IQ of wilted watercress. As far as I'm aware I don't have any forum sanctions or warnings against me. If the policy boffins that are <coughs> running this place don't want me posting, wouldn't be much angst or rancor on my part. I'm with a crew of about 8 or 9 that if the others weren't playing we wouldn't play. Pretty much only on site for each other. I'll also be getting married later this year, early next year. So am assuming my new boss might have ideas about my spare time. If it came down to a choice between my D&D games with friends in RL and CC, I don't know which would win. Even three years ago would have been CC for sure. 6 years ago, I wouldn't have gone near D&D, too consumed by CC.

and to stay on topic. there was an effort made by CC to bring back prominent posters from the forum past (good and bad)... they contacted people, asked the old forum peeps that were still around to invite people back. they literally had a kind of "reach out" program... i think it would be great if they did it again, just to remind people that we are all still here and really trying to make this the kind of place it was before andy and the CC kristall nachters tore it apart (yes, andy... yes, i know.. it is facebooks fault... facebook destroyed the forums by banning everyone in sight that was even remotely subversive or non-complimentary to the site)... so, if you have a way to contact them, do it... i brought back a handful of people with emails/messages, etc... you can do the same...

This thread is about bringing back the great all time forum posters who are not around anymore. You i am afraid to say will never be that. So last 3 days what have you done.

1) opened a flame troll thread ( which was locked fast by mods)
2) carried it on opening another thread also slagging off the mod who locked the first thread.
3) came to this thread trying to make it off topic and nothing to do with what we were talking about.

No 3 is a classic because you have just done what you were complaining about (albeit in the wrong way.) then you have the cheek to say we are like high school kids. Next time you go to the bathroom lean over the toilet and talk to it. Because that is where all the shit coming out of your mouth belongs.

Now back on subject.
Can anybody think of anyone else we would like to see back in the forums.
