2 global chat rooms, one as is and 1 PC:



PC global chat does not allow obvious trolling , sex, drunk, druged out or violent talk
does not allow religion bashing( though discussion and respectful education allowed)
does not allow ethnic /racial bashing
Respectful political discussions can occur
allow users the choice of keeping the 2 global chat rooms open or closed independently (ie both none or 1)

I dont mind having a global chat place for the guys(mainly) who want to trash talk each other, talk about how drunk they are, how they are masturbating etc to meet each other in global chat; just give those of us who want a chat room (equally accessible) thats a place to share polite discussion and help newbies without the garbage :

How this will benefit the site and/or other comments:

• allow newbies a safe place to meet mentors , ask questions without wading though extroverts filth/pornography links etc
  would improve newbie retention
  allow more interesting community building ; e.g. enjoyed hearing about Macbones view of Hong Kong political crisis and he reported his thought without anyone issuing slurs against Chinese or Hong Kong students....enjoyed Aung teaching me some of the beliefs of Aung's sect's religious belief's within the wide range of different Buddhist beliefs... on the days when others weren't talking about penis size excrement drunken rants etc ...
  allow the current global chat to continue for those who like it , just give us an easy choice

Perhaps a specific "room" within global chat that is heavily modded and default for newbies and a preference setting for the rest of us?
This is basically as simple as a usergroup forum and i think global chat already has the capabilities to do this.
Anyone who crosses the line gets banned from that specific room and is than just allowed regular global chat as it is.

i suggest you go to live chat and create your own chat room for this purpose. how would they do this? global chat would have 2 tabs? pc and non pc? i suggest you utilize the MUTE button to disable the chat you don't want to see OR become an adult and deal with it. global chat is moderated by chat mods and users alike. many times users have been turned in for racist/bigoted/homophobic comments and they have lost their GC privileges. so, either utilize the "mute" button, utilize a private room in live chat or suck it up, cupcake... good luck with this horrible and unnecessary suggestion... the black jesus has spoken...-Jésus noir

It's not a bad idea in theory -- having multiple chat channels for people with different preferences makes sense, as long as there's enough people to sustain them. And there lies the problem -- the site at present doesn't even have enough people to keep one chat channel busy all the time. I think we need to grow a bit before we start splitting it.

i love how many of the moderators don't seem to understand that by ADDING on more and more to the site, you continue to water it down and you continue to cause "the great decline"... this site has too many maps, too many settings, too many EVERYTHINGS... why do we have live and global chat? just kill live chat and utilize global to its potential. people already use it for finding games, which is what chat was great for. how often are there multiple chat rooms going in live chat? not very often. so why would there be multiple chats going in global? i love the optimism, "the site has to grow more than we can do this!" THE SITE IS DYING RIGHT BEFORE OUR EYES!!! almost 30K to just above 9K (i don't buy the almost 2K the site recently added out of thin air)!!! adding more options is not going to help!! this suggestions is ridiculous. don't go into global if it offends you. mute the users if they offend you. it is simple. kind of like, FOE AND MOVE ON or SUCK IT UP CUPCAKE. pansies.. and bunch of pansies around here...-Jn
