Put a winning condition in auto tourneys

Postby ViperOverLord on Sun Jan 04, 2015 8:27 pm

I just posted this in the tourney forum; but since this is ultimately a site suggestion, I've decided I should post here as well. Time and time again we get round descriptions that tell us how to advance to the next round in the auto tourneys. But then it is never clear just how the tourneys are actually won; and this is a constant source of confusion for players. I can't even begin to tell you how many times players have gotten to the end of a tourney, and we're not even sure who won the tourney because of the ambiguity in tourney description.

Look at this:

Round Details
Round 1: Seeded by Score, 3 Games, 48 Move On, Games: 4 Players, Standard, Flat Rate, Classic More
Round 2: 48 Start, Seeded by Score, 5 Games, 36 Move On, Games: 6 Players, Standard, Flat Rate, Classic More
Round 3: 36 Start, Score Resets, Seeded by Score, Best Of 7, 12 Move On, Games: 9 Players, Standard, Flat Rate, Classic More
Round 4: 12 Start, Seeded by Score, 9 Games, Games: 12 Players, Standard, Flat Rate, Classic More

So, 'score resets' after two rounds. The problem is that sometimes that 'score resets' only seemingly applies to seeding for the next round and not the actual scores and then other times 'score resets' means that the scores actually resets and whomever wins those last two rounds or last round (that is not even clear either) is then the winner. And all of this confusion could be avoided; and there could be great clarity if only admin/TO's/whoever put:

Winning Condition: Player who wins the most games in 4 rounds is the winner.

OR

Winning Condition: Player who wins the most games in rounds 3 and 4 is the winner.

OR

Winning Condition: Player who wins the most games in round 4 is the winner.

Take the guess work out of it, and list the winning condition! It's a very simple thing to do!

I'm not sure this is confusing?

In your example, the winner is the most games won for rounds three and four. Tiebreakers are total games won and then fewest rounds (in winning?) games.

Agreed. It's in the instructions, and multiple clarifications in the forums and elsewhere have been made.

Still, it never hurts to make things a little more clear.

I wouldn't call this essential, but it's a good idea.
