hey... that is really cool that you just spent an hour writing a short novel in the C&A... oddly enough, you are up in that game as the red player. i bet you could have taken your turn in less time than it took to write the same defense you have been posting all over the forums... why didn't you take your turn?

I believe if I started taking my turns now it would make things worse -- it would force both of us to spend even more time on this game that obviously no longer has any point if it ever had one, whereas if I miss two more turns it will all be over and we can all move on to more pleasant things.

Regarding the "same defense I've been posting all over the forums" -- as I wrote, the problem was precisely that I wasn't posting in the forums because no-one had had the basic courtesy to make me aware of the fact that this was being discussed in the forums -- up to now I'd only posted an explanation in the game chat; also that explanation was intended mostly for people who were hurling expletives at me there, whereas in the forums there were also some more constructive comments, including people who respectfully criticized my conduct, and I wanted to engage with the community as a whole.

no, please take your turn. that is the fucking point.

OK -- I've done that. (Would also have done it without the help of yet another expletive.) I don't think I understand why you prefer us taking several turns now to finish the game instead of just waiting it out for another 24 hours, but since the formal rules are on your side if you insist, here we go.

I'm not that familiar with the procedures -- don't think I've ever had occassion to formally complain about anything here before. I went to the C & A guide at viewtopic.php?f=5&t=56445, and I understood it to say that the forum is only for in-game violations; it says specifically that "Except for Game chats, any Chat Infractions can be reported to the Chat Moderators." (viewtopic.php?f=5&t=56445#p4575702). So I wrote to one of the Chat Moderators. But since you're saying I should start a C & A thread, perhaps I misunderstood the guide? (Both comments in question were posted here in the forums, not in the game chat.)

I don't know what the letter of the law is, but that dude deserved much more than a deadbeat. I fully support this deadbeating as a form of protest against someone who behaves that way. Joriki, perhaps you can take a turn once every three turns to make sure he gets to enjoy the fruits of his behavior as long as possible.

Yes, yes, yes ... against the rules. Bad form. Tut tut. Stiff upper lip. Carry on.

Regardless of whether it is pleasant or not a player is supposed to finish the game if he or she is able to. Some opponents may be mean spirited but that is no reason to not play and finish the game. As already noted no one is required to let their opponent see the map before they make their first turn. It is not required that someone responses to a message or accepts another person's point of view. It is regretful that the dialogue between both parties was unsuccessful and a common ground was not reached but that is the nature of the world.

@joriki, fyi, if the previous C and A report hadn't be cleared, you would have received a pm telling you that you are noted/warned/banned. But otherwise nobody is supposed to contact you to ask you to defend yourself. Only friends reading C and A might do that for you ;).

nobody asked him to defend himself, he was made aware that there was a thread about him in C&A... there was no declaration or challenge sent out to him to come defend himself... so, i have no idea what you are going on about... and as you can see, he may have done better by not responding at all.. not much of a stellar defense going on here, with an admission of "forfeit"...-Jésus noir

joriki said he hoped someone would have contacted him. I was just letting him know it was usually not the case. Nobody is gonna tell you there is a C and A on you.
So i wasn't going after you owen, telling him that you opened a C and A on him is actually nice.

- I have a question, Why didn't ronc file this report? I know Owen and ronc are friends, but why did You Owen file this for him? I don't think this report should even be legal since You were not in this war or have access to any pm's sent between Them. Motion to strike unless ronc wants to persue further. The war is almost over leave it up to Joriki and ronc to decide further actions or dismiss.

That's a terrible state of affairs. It should be a mandatory part of any such proceedings that the person being criticized gets notified and consulted, if not by the accuser, then by the person investigating the claims. Most of us live in states with reasonable levels of rule of law; this sort of thing should be self-evident.

that's why.

- Then my second question, why does this report exist? If Jor was cleared then the horse is dead. Why keep beating it? I know C/A has been quiet lately, that's a good thing, but the ruling states the horse is dead, why try and resurrect it? Go and find some multis so C/A can recoupe from this awful thread. GL all!

I think that most of the time the replies we got from the accused are useless, also it sometimes results in people insulting each other. I assumed that is why there is no one in charge of telling you there is a C and A against you. But I don't know, just assuming.

@ MagnusGreeol , read the first post, I think owen explained why he think there is a necessity to re-open the case.

No, it is just that the topic got so much expanded and widespread, that everybody considered it obvious that "someone" from all those guys must have informed Joriki. Funnily, that didnt happen.

soooo, what you are saying is that "forfeiting"/dead beating is ok? you are saying if someone does something that is not against a written rule, but that you don't like in a game, you can stop playing and it is ok? i am just a little confused, can you please explain how what he is doing is ok? also, can you please explain how my relationship with ronc makes the accused players actions ok? i am confused... thank you for any clarification you provide...-Jésus noir

This is crazy this thread is still unlocked. Can't we get the moderator in charge to give Joriki a warning and be done with it? This is obviously an isolated incident.

A couple things to take away from this.

1. Deadbeating is not alright in any circumstance, so do not do it.
2. Gentlemen/ladies let their opponent see the map or let their opponent know which regions were taken if fog is effected. YES OWENSHOOTER I KNOW THIS IS NOT A RULE

This has been noted. Seeing the response made by joriki that he now realizes his mistake, let this serve as his warning not to do this again. We'll take this as an isolated incident.

If you happen to be in a game where your opponent is annoying, offensive, etc. please put him on your foe list. Do not deadbeat!

Weeding out the unnecessary posts from this thread, we can also lock this as the relevant messages has already been said.

Also, guys, stop spamming that game.
