Not sure if that is possible to do, doubt it. Maybe per IP, but then that would hinder families who play off of 1 household.

but once someone in the household discovers the joy of premium they can tell the others

True, but hearing it from someone else is a lot different then experiencing it yourself.

IP doesn't work because I'd think multis use proxies anyway (that masks your IP, right...?).

After studying web proxy use for several months we've discovered that much less than 1% of our membership visits Conquer Club through web proxies and a large portion of this proxy use is by members with multiple accounts. We decided to block access to Conquer Club through web proxies to help our multi hunters enforce the rules and keep out the bad guys.

Runescape uses files stored on your computer directly to keep track of different things, CC uses server based files to keep track of things, and attempts to associate your computer via several ways, IP, User Agent, Session and Cookie information. However all of these things can be changed on the client side to mask, or change the identity of your computer. In short, no, it is not possible.

My point exactly, so until you figure out how to do it, or know someone who does, stop saying it is possible.

I think the people who's wives will let them get premium already have it. This isn't going to make much difference on the fact of buying premium, it's explained well enough to know what to expect. Majority of the site is already premium.

i know, but when i was buying premium and the reason i didnt for many years was because i didnt want to take the risk. I dont want to lower the price because it is a good price i just think it would help the site.

Demo premium for New players

Postby dakky21 on Sun Jul 20, 2014 7:11 pm

Concise description:
  • Demonstration premium mode - only 8 games can be played at a same time

Specifics/Details:
  • This would be open only to new players
  • Only New Recruits who get to Corporal 1st Class (get 1200 points) get Demo premium
  • Demo Premium lasts 72 hours (3 days)
  • Speed games, invitations, all would be available during this period
  • Rank icon remains freemium during this period
  • After 72 hours, player is demoted back to freemium but may finish already started games

How this will benefit the site and/or other comments:
  • Get new players to taste a Premium membership and buy it if they like the features

I like the idea of allowing new players to demo premium features.

I don't know that I like tying it to a specific score - we want people who start out poorly to enjoy a taste of premium too. :)

I'm just throwing out ideas here, but maybe new players could be allowed to play 5-10 speed and/or polymorphic games. After they've reached their limit maybe they'd be more inclined to buy premium.

That's exactly what I thought. All browser games give you some free time of premium membership, so you get excited and want to buy it when the free time expires. I like the limit of 8, but it can be 10 as well.

I thought of putting a "goal" for new Players so they must reach certain number of points to be able to get a Demo Premium. If there is no a point limit or a goal, new people would just make multis and play with Premium indefinitely. So there must be a score requirement or some other, like 50 forum posts or similar.

Talking of this idea, another one came to me: make all people first time they advance a rank, get 3 days of Demo Premium. But only first time you get to Corporal, or Seargent or any other rank. That would be another incentive to try hard and win games, both for new players, and old freemiums.

Maybe instead of when they advance a rank you could consider when they complete something like 25 games?

Even better. 25 games lost or won should be a trigger.

I actually came here to suggest something along this line, but a little different. Why not offer classic speed games to all non-premium members (something reasonable like 10 per day), maybe even polymorph on classic map too so that they get a taster. Most people want to play more than just classic, so will want to broaden their map knowlegde. The only option then is casual, but if you like speeders it's a bit of a pain not to buy premium.

The reason is so that new members can try out these features on one map only and if they wish to unlock the rest of the maps to otherwise premium features, they need to buy premium. When players join a site, they are looking to immediately play some games but if you offer full premium for a limited time, this will only encourage multis. People will create new accounts each time their old one becomes restricted.

UNLESS it is free trial premium that you can cancel before the end of 30 days, otherwise you will be charged the full premium. Smart sites do this. ;)

FYI- all non-premium members get 4 "standard setting" games on Classic map per month. Unless they have changed that in the past half a year.
