youre not recieving as many final forge comments because people have stopped reading your thread. you fill it up with pages of worthless trash...and people get tired of reading it to see another post about crackers.

ok. 2 days passed and no comments were made. no feedback no suggestions no nothing. after those 2 days andy was online but did not check the thread. on day 4 he came and asked for modifications. now that really wasn't necessary. why final forge a map and say in 2 days it'll be quenched when you come after 3 days and ask for modifications. that i don't understand. but then again i don't understand how maps without large/small versions or without xml get forged. could it be this whole forging process is done without any real palpable rules? i mean there are maps around that are more evolved than some in final forge and andy does not even care.

i agree he has a life, everybody does, but come on, this map has been around for 50 pages and andy posted on page 44. don't tell me he had no free time when he's posted around in various other threads.

if there isn't anything other to say about the map. what should we do? i see that anybody else didn't make any remark...except andy (but that problem i dont think is necessary).
we are just killing time in expectation of a quench.

QFT! i agree that some map makers aren't treated equally. and thats the main problem here in the foundry, i've seen that many people being let down by "the community" (a.k.a. andy and keyogi). i know you guys are the mods, but if the people want it let them have it, it's not your job to tell the people what they want.

Dim i would have excepted you to know by now they wouldn't quench a map coming form a romanian(DIM) or a serb(QWERT). he are ex-commie states, its beneth the sites dignity to quench this kind of maps

no actually the problem is not what countries we are from. i bet many people don't even know where romania or Serbia are on the map and don't even care.

the reson why map makers are treated unequally still eludes me.

why is battle for australia not forged but italy is?
why d-day is but doodle earth isn't?

there 2 examples of weird forging.

one thing I've noticed is once one cartographer has completed the process with one map his next map is likely to get forged much quicker. This is most evident in great lakes being quenched quickly and d-day being at final forge already. I think it is out of line to suggest that a map has not been quenched because the cartographer is not of an english-speaking origin. Whilst this can render some problems a map would not be held back because of these reasons, I guess cartographers have to have a lot of patience and inevitably take on board any ideas people suggest

DiM...from my point of view, battle for australia is not yet ready for forge...and since I am the cartographer on that map i'll be the first to admit that....as i haven't even posted a large version for that nor the xml.

However, I understand that sometime PATIENCE is required in many aspects of life and this is certainly one of them.

I think it is wrong of you to bring your nationality into this forum when you have posted that you expected this forum to be better than that...and I understand your frustration.

From my understanding, is there not going to be a change to this forum and the way maps are forged - i think the process of sub forums was mentioned in another thread. Towards that lets hope that everyone gets a fairer go when that process begins if that is what the new sub-forums are supposed to be about.

i had a lot of patience. this map is 2 and a half months old.
i implemented almost all the suggestions i received and decently turned down the others by providing irrefutable reasons.

but i'm really getting tired of this hassle. this map has been 99% finished for over a month now and i've been just waiting and waiting. for Christ's sake i've inserted village people on the map or started polls about my third eye because i was bored for the lack of feedback. when a map is developed and in time it reaches a stage where nobody knows what else to say it can only mean one thing. that map is finished. well this one reached that stage long ago. i had to post the fact that i'm abandoning it unless andy posts here just to get him to throw in a couple of words. did not pm him about that post so he probably watched my thread and yet never posted.

i'm not an idiot i can understand if there are good reasons for andy's decisions on this map (you know, not posting, final forging it so late, making demands after the final forge time passed, etc). i just want him to come and tell me. "hey DiM i deliberately delay your map because i like how you get all pissed and make long debating posts"
i'd understand that. well actually i won't but at least i'll get an explanation.

well since other maps are being forged without small or large versions or without xml i see no point why your map isn't ;)

no actually i did not bring nationality into discussion. steel panzer did and i already told him that's not the issue.

well things move really slowly around and i don't know if we'll live to see those subforums. :P

and even if we do have sub forums as has been talked i never heard a thing about the foundry process being changed. i already said a few times that we need a change but the answer was. "if it ain't broken why change it"

if everybody had that kind of attitude towards change we would still be dragging our women by their hair back to our caves to beat them with clubs :)

i say that there's always room for improvement.

bigotry, antisemitism and racism should not exists. if in the real world these are problems we can't control because of the sheer number of people. at least in small internet communities like this one it is in our powers to put an end to them. as said before this is not the case here.

Dim, yours got Forged when it did because I wanted to first make sure that I understood the whole idea and concept fully, because I figured if I couldn't, some others couldn't either. And as you see, I did understand it, and it got Forged. As for me posting a while after Forge, the minimum constraint of 2 days is really just arbitrary. Perhaps I should take it out, and reword the Forging. I came and posted when I did because while looking at your thread again, that idea came to mind. I'd like to be able to think up everything right after I Forge, but sometimes ideas don't come right away, or it takes a bit for my eye to notice something.

In no way I have intentionally delayed your map, or any map. I truly believe I am running the Foundry fairly, and have been since I've been here. I do look forward to being able to play on your map, as it will be an interesting game experience, compared to some of the other maps we have. I'm sorry if I've offended you in anyway, or any others, of course it was not my intention to. :)

So lets smile, be happy, and eat a banana.

ok i understand. i did what johloh asked and i refused what you asked (and provided a reason for it). since no other issues were raised, please tell me what's holding this map from quenching now? the large and small versions are there and also the updated xml is a few posts after the maps.

i've got just 2 more problems.

1. you said you took your time to understand the map for fear that if you don't understand it might be the same for others. well since the map got the approval of the majority it's clear to me that the majority understood it. now let's say i want to do a map that's really complicated and you don't understand it. does this mean you'll never quench it? even if the community majority does get it?

2. you say you run the foundry fairly. ok. i accept it but answer me this:
why do most make makers have to provide small large xml and test results before they get final forged while others get it without providing all those? is that fair? why some maps that still have discussions about gameplay get final forged while others that are far more advance don't?
why is battle for australia not forged but italy is?
why d-day is but doodle earth isn't?
and what about china? it seems almost ready for quenching and it's not even in final forge.
and let's not forget about easter front. that is surely worth to be final forged.

the above maps for me represent a lack of fairness. you clearly demanded me a small map and a finalized xml before you even think about forging. that's ok i think it's normal but what about others? what about CCC? if i recall correctly you requested cairns to post large small xml and test several times before you did it. and he complied each and every time. while others aren't even asked. they just get forged.
this is what i mean when i say you treat map makers differently. i don't know the reason, heck i don't even know if you do it on purpose. all i know is that you do it and it really bothers me.

edit// i just noticed china was forged 2 hours ago. you can ignore that part :)

Lets get back to map, and take other discussions either to a more appropriate thread or to PM, as it just bogs down the thread.

Alright, lets see.

As for the legend, it still feels a little cluttered, but I don't know how you can make it any better. So I think that seems relatively fine.

A minor thing, the continent to the far right could have its border color stand out a little more, as it blends in with the nonplayable area.

I think that is it for graphical stuff, other than it took me a moment to figure out what the lower case 'r' looked like. ;) Hopefully when the map gets up for normal play the stylized font will be fine.

Coordinates, would you consider any of these:

Fajome's coordinate is sort of crowding the resource picture, would you consider moving it slightly, or perhaps reposition it and the name?

Puerto Castillo, consider bumping the coordinate up and to the right a little, so it isn't crowding the name. Or swap the coordinate place and the anchor.

Puetro Antigo (Amtigo?), similar to Castillo, bump it slightly to the right.

Puerto Modesto, maybe bump the coordinate up a little and perhaps right, to give the name a little more room.

Pampas, would you maybe slide the coordinate over so it isn't on top of the dock image?

Torillos, maybe move the coordinate centered over the name, as there is ample space to do so, no need to crowd it to the right.

Other than those, I'm like the look of the map!

(P.S. I rather like most of the wording of the story on the right, except for sentences after the 'Age of Merchants begins!'. That seems like a very proper end).

this one i don't quite understand. you want me to remove everything after 'Age of Merchants begins!'? or do you want me to put that to the end?

i'm not too keen on changing that because i had a contest of stories and this is the one that won.
