The Official Board of A Risktaker's Race Roll 19 show: Changes from 1st Race
There are now 80 maps. No duplicates. Based on advice from Osman76 the winner of the first race, if you are in the leading half of the race, your map will be randomly chosen if you end up on a tile by yourself. Added a bit of wimsy for the first three sections with a chutes and ladders additionn to the game play. You get two chances to score zero before you are eliminated. The spoils and forts will chance slightly roll to roll, not always nuc

The Official Rules of A Risktaker's Race This tournament is expected to run about a year. (That is a long time and stuff happens. If you need to drop, no hard feelings, just let me know. But please don't join if you don't feel there is a reasonable chance of finishing on your part.) The game load is 6 games at one shot but then nothing until everyone finishes that roll.
Random.org will be used when randomness is needed.
The tournament organiser has the final say on all facts connected to play.
Introduction Many set off on Start. 81 tiles and 80 maps ahead. Luck of the dice--be gone! With 6 1v1 games per round, you now have the power to win games and thus control your very own race towards the finish line! And may you find the ladders and avoid the chutes for no one knows where they are until the roll is finished by all (see explanation further on.)
But beware; go two rounds without a win, roll a 0, and you'll see yourself kicked from the board! Can you survive the long trek across five realms of Conquer Club play? Only one can seize the day and seize the board as champion of "A Risktaker's Race!"
Tournament Settings show: Settings
ALL games, regardless of map, will have these settings: Standard Game Type Automatic Initial Troops Sequential Play Order Spoils will be Esq, Flat, Nuc in rotation. (Roll 1 - Esq, Roll 2- Flat, etc.) (Special note for Nuc, anyone who lets the time expire to avoid taking a spoil will be penalized 1 for the first offense, 2 for 2nd, etc. (this is over the whole tournament). I probably won't catch anyone doing this but please report them to me and I will assign penalty because it will show in the log if I know to look for it.) Forts will be Chained, Chained, Chained, Parachute, again in rotation. Special Gameplay Fog of War ("Foggy", "Yes") No Trench Warfare There will be NO such rule that requires players to wait before taking their turns in Fog of War games. 20 Rounds Round Limit 24 Hour Round Length Any settings that are made available by Conquer Club at any time during the existence of this post and throughout game-play (until the tournament is complete) will NOT be included in any games in the tournament, because these settings were not present during the writing of these Rules.
Basics of the Tournament The above, three-paged game board is a game board created by WC4J and modified by me. It consists of 82 tiles (including Start and Finish), 80 maps, and 5 realms.
In playing, each of the players is represented by a figurine (like in a traditional board game), which is "placed" on the first, Start tile (located in the top right of the board) at the beginning of the tournament.
Due to the number of players and size of the board, there will be only be two figures on the board, showing what tile the leader is on, a 6 die The trailer will be represented by a 1 die. I will endeavor to keep this up but the spreadsheet will always be more quickly updated and accurate.
Play is divided into rounds, hereon known as "rolls."
Players first play games, and then move. And then in the first 3 sections, the position of the ladder and chute is calculated and applied. No one including me knows where they will be until after the roll is completed by all.
Like in any standard board game, players move from tile to tile towards the last, Finish tile at the bottom of the board.
But rather than moving through luck of the dice, the number of wins a player earns during a "roll" will correspond to the number of tiles that player may move forward.
So, if Klaus wins 4 games in Roll 1, he would correspondingly move 4 tiles forward (having "rolled" a 4), thus landing on Labyrinth.
At the end of all players completing a roll, the position of the Ladder and Chute will be calculated and those will be applied. (See Chutes and Ladders)
Players will play games on the map corresponding to where they are located on the board at the start of a roll.
So, if Gunther is located on the Labyrinth tile, he will play all his 1v1 games for the current Roll on the Labyrinth map.
If a player does not win any games in a Roll, then that player "rolls a 0" and is eliminated from the tournament, upon the 2nd time this occurs!
The player to first land on Finish, or the last player remaining on the board, wins!
Game-play Format show: Game-play Format
All games in the tournament will be 1v1 games. Players in the same position (on the same tile) on the board will play games against each other, on the map corresponding to the tile that they are on, with the aforementioned universal settings. In each roll (round), ALL players will play 6 1v1 games, regardless of how many players have landed on a particular tile. Players will receive all 6 of their invites at one time in an effort to conserve time. In cases where groupings are needed to divide players, the arrangement of players in the groupings will be determined randomly, using random.org. At the start of the tournament, the players are divided into groupings of 7 players. Each player will play 1 1v1 game each against the six other players, on the Classic map. ------- (For the remaining rolls) If there are X players on a particular tile, where X is 2: Those 2 players will play 6 1v1 games against each other. 3: Each player will play 3 1v1 games each against the two other players. 4: Each player will play 2 1v1 games each against the three other players. 5: Each player will play 1 1v1 game each against the four other players, and an additional 1v1 game each against two different players, determined randomly. 6: Each player will play 1 1v1 game each against the five other players, and an additional 1v1 game against another player, determined randomly. 7: Each player will play 1 1v1 game each against the six other players. 8: The 8 players will be divided into 2 groupings of 4 players each. Each player will then play 2 1v1 games each against the three other players in their grouping. 9: The 9 players will be divided into 3 groupings of 3 players each. Each player will then play 3 1v1 games each against the two other players in their grouping. 10: The 10 players will be divided into 2 groupings of 5 players each. Each player will play 1 1v1 game each against the four other players in their grouping, and an additional 1v1 game each against two different players in their grouping, determined randomly. You can stop reading here! I truly don't anticipate THIS many players on one particular tile, but, just in case, I might as well write it down, 11: The 11 players will be divided into 2 irregular groupings, one of 5 players and one of 6 players. Chutes and Ladders (additional gameplay factor) show: Chutes and Ladders
As in the childerens game, chutes take you back and ladders advance you. The maps will be numbered 1-9 (Check the spreadsheet but they go in order and repeat). The ladder will be determined by adding up the sum of all tiles occupied and the date and time of the last game finishing on PST or PDT (about -7GMT) and reducing to a single digit. For example, the sum of all players on all tiles at the end of the roll is 328. The last game ended 2014-04-25 13:33:27 So, 3+2+8+2+1+4+2+2+1+3+3+3+2+7=43>>4+3=7, So the ladder would be at 7 and the Chute ( chute always 2 less than ladder) at 7-2 or 5. (If the ladder is at 1, then chute is at 8. If the ladder is at 2, then chute is at 9). I don't think anyone will be able to predict where the ladder or chute will be since no one will know until the end of the roll. If you can game that please let me know, so I can come up with something else. The ladder will gain you 2 places if the # is 123, 3 places if 456, 4 places if 789. The chute will be the opposite, lose 4 places if 123, etc. If the number comes up 0, then I will consider it to be a 1. Also no chute in tiles 1-5. We need to get people out the gate. And no chutes or ladders in the last two sections (except if you get tossed in there by a final ladder). So a little fun and wimsy, and some serious game play at the end.
Advancing on the Board show: Advancing on the Board
After playing games in a roll (round), players will advance a number of spaces equivalent to the number of games won. Players who do not win any of their six games in a roll for the 2nd time are immediately eliminated from play! If a player lands on a tile and there is no other opponent that also landed on that tile, then the player may consider that tile to be a "free choice" space--the player will remain on that tile, but may choose to play with players on a different tile. That different tile must be in the same realm that the player is in. If the player wins games, the player then advances from their position on the board, NOT from where his opponents are located. When players are alone on a tile, if they are in the top 50% I will put the maps available to them in random.org and assign the map (based on advice from the winner of previous tournament who got a significant advantage by always being able to pick his map). If you are in the bottom 50% or on a free choice tile I will personally message them to ask what map they want to play. If you are alone on a tile and a person who is ahead of you picks your tile, then that is what you will play, not your choice (because you are no longer alone on the tile). If they land on free choice tiles they will have their free choice of what to play as long as there is someone there to play with. If there are no players on any tiles within the same realm, then the player may choose a tile that is in either the direct next or direct previous realm. In the event that all remaining players in the tournament are each on their own individual tile such that no two players are on the same exact tile, then all players will be asked to vote for each available map and the map with the most votes will be used.
How to Win show: How to Win
There are two ways to win the tournament. To Win "A Risktaker's Race" Be the first player to land ON the Finish space at the bottom of the board (having progressed through all five realms). OR Be the only player still in the tournament, as a result of all other players being eliminated. In the event that multiple players landed on the Finish space at the end of the same roll (round), Those players will take part in a Random map round-robin. Each of the tied players will play 1 1v1 game each against the other tied players, on random maps as determined through the Random setting, with the aforementioned universal settings. The player with the most wins after this round-robin is proclaimed champion of A Risktaker's Race! In the event that multiple players won the same number of games after the aforementioned round-robin, then those players who won the same number of games will take part in an additional round-robin. Each player will play 1 1v1 game each against the other players who have the same number of wins, on random maps as determined through the Random setting, with the aforementioned universal settings. The player with the most wins after this round-robin is proclaimed champion of A Risktaker's Race! Should multiple players once again have won the same number of games, then additional round-robins will take place in the same manner as mentioned in the previous points, until one single player is the only player with the most number of wins. That player will then be proclaimed champion of A Risktaker's Race! In the above situations, regular board play for those players who have not yet arrived at the Finish space will end, and only the round-robins will be carried out to determine the winner.
Policy for Players Failing to Join Games show: Policy for Players Failing to Join Games
The organiser has full judgment in each case of a player not joining games.Because of the complexity and number of people playing it is only fair to the others and to the Organizer that games be picked up in an expedious manner. All game play is 24 hour based and therefore it is not unreasonable to expect games to be accepted within 24 hours. Therefore you will receive one invite and then be dropped. That said, I am very easy to work with. I will always check my wall and pm's to see if there is something there before I eliminate someone. During the last game I allowed in one case 5 days to pick up the games. I was contacted ahead of time and told of the problem (not the details) and the expected duration. Communication makes all the difference.
The Ultimate Clarification: Example of Play show: The Ultimate Clarification Example of Play
Roll 1 There are X players on the Start tile. As a result, they are divided randomly into 10 groupings of 7 players each. Everyone now plays 6 1v1 games within their grouping (one game against each of the other 6 players in your grouping). After all games are finished, you won all 6 games. So, you advance to Age of Realms 2: Magic! Roll 2 You, James, Vanessa, Parker, Henry, and Sylvia all landed on Age of Realms 2: Magic!, because you all won 6 games in the first round. Since there are 6 players on this tile, according to the rules you now play a 1v1 game against James, a 1v1 game against Vanessa, a 1v1 game against Parker, a 1v1 game against Henry, and a 1v1 game against Sylvia. Then, as randomly determined, you'll play a 6th game, against Henry (randomly determined). You win 2 of your 6 games! Therefore, you advance to Castle Lands. Vanessa won 0 of her games! Therefore she is only one more 0 she can receive before being eliminated.
GA The Diablo Feat: "The Diablo Feat" show: The Diablo Feat
Having received Tournament Director approval, the player who "rolls the most 6s" (most frequently wins all 6 games during a round) throughout the entire tournament earns "The Diablo Feat" General Achievement Medal. A player may only be awarded this medal if he has, at least three times, won all 6 games during a round.
That does it for the Rules, and thanks for checking out this tournament and I most certainly hope you'll join the race!
