Activity points/indicator

Postby Zimpari on Thu Nov 14, 2013 4:30 pm

Concise description:
  • Adding activity points or an activity indicator to user profiles

Specifics/Details:
  • Having an indicator or point system for activity. Something that is a bit more than "missed turns %". There are some users that start moving when they have 2 hours left on their 24h timer. Activity indicator could take into account say last 10 games an set your activity rating by those.
  • For example:
User1 and User2 start a game. (This is a first game for the both of them)
User2 joins - Random decides that User1 has to move first. User1 discovers that the game has started 1 hour later and makes his move. After starting a turn a system gives him +23 points to his activity indicator (FOR THIS GAME). User2 sees that User1 is moving and makes his move right after User1 finishes - gaining him +23.99 (or sth similar) points.
When the game ends all those activity points collected during the game are divided by number of rounds and we get the average activeness. Which is then calculated into the activity indicator that is on the user page.

How this will benefit the site and/or other comments:
  • It would serve great as an indicator under the "Game Finder" section - where it should be also added - next to the users name. Reason being that some people are just more active than others and it is super annoying to have to wait for some guy to continuously make his moves after like 22 hours or so have passed on the clock. I do not know if that might be deliberate, but even so, it could be made possible to avoid such games with the activity point indicator.

Let me know what you think and if something is unclear I am more than happy to explain it in bigger detail if necessary.

What about those waiting in foggy games? They may well be online for much of the first 12 hours but have to wait then go off to bed, work or simply doing something else to return with less than an hour on the clock.

Also team games where the player to move may be waiting on team mates input before making a move.

I tend not to make moves immediately after getting up or getting in from work (or when the missus is yakking in my ear hole!) but may if it's a straightforward move.

Quite happy to play RT if circumstances permit.
If nothing else works, a total pig-headed unwillingness to look facts in the face will see us through

Is this pretty much the same concept as this: viewtopic.php?f=704&t=156346 ?

Activity indicator doesn't work. I am on CC sometimes 36 hours in a row, and I still don't take turns. It doesn't mean that I'm inactive.

it is just a freemium trying to 'improve' his gaming experience by excluding paying customers who take their turns too slowly for his liking.
