Congratulations to PaRKoN who battled well with teammates and then defeated them on the polymorphic battlefield.
Also qualifying for the GA medal (team dominates to the tune of securing >70% of available points (20 of 28)) by achieving 22 of 28 points are the special agents PaRKoN, IanG7, kjg21, TaelS
Do you have friends on this site that you just love to win with, but secretly love to beat even more?
Well this tournament may be for you!
Concept: 2 groups of 4 teams will compete in round robin play. - Preference will be given to those who sign up in teams of 4 - single sign-ups will be grouped once there are 4 singles - Each round you will play a new team from your group in an epic battle of 1 singles, 2 doubles, 1 triples, 1 quad games with varying settings as listed below. - You will not know which other team you are playing, or who they have playing what until the game invites are sent out. - The singles/doubles matches will be worth 1 point each and the triples/ quads will be worth 2 for a total of 7 points per round. - The winning team from each group will then square off in Round 4, the team finals portion of the tournament which will be played like the round robin. - However, this tournament is destined to have only 1 winner. "But Ian", you'll say, "we've worked so hard how can we come away with nothing?" To which I'll respond. "If your team dominates to the tune of securing >70% of available points (20 of 28) you shall be rewarded with a general achievement medal, (this has been loosely approved already) however, if you do not achieve such greatness you will receive nothing but instead advance to fight bitterly with your teammates who couldn't secure those crucial extra points." - To arrive at an individual winner your team of 4 will play 3 concurrent doubles games where the person with the most wins will be declared the winner. In the event of a tie in this scenario I will go back to the team portion and award the tournament to the player who secured the most pointsEDIT: wins for their team.
Requirements - You must read and re-read the information before asking questions that could be answered by reading all the information. - Going to give preference to premium unless you can guarantee 3 open spots. - Team total points must be greater than 8000. Please list your team using the "Player" button found in composing a message (ie type players name, highlight it then click player) so that I can verify total team points quickly. - In each round each player must play 3 games consisting of 1 double, 1 quad and either the triples OR singles game. - No team member is allowed to play in more than 1 singles match through Round 4 - All teams must have a clever team name and a team captain whom I will contact as to the roster they are submitting for each round of games. - I will increase this to 16 teams and add Round 5, making Round 4 the semis, if there is much interest.
looks like i'll be in a team of 4 though still ironing out the details ... several questions for our illustrious TO. is ir required that each player be in 3 matches a round, or can 2 guys do both dubs etc... it the plan is each of the 4 is in a dub, and the 4 guys each are in the trip and single , can we switch singlesa players in the different rounds...? since we expect to win, we have a question about the tiebreaker, also as its reasonable to epect none of us may win all 3 dubs ...will being part of a winning trip team count as 1 point same as the single , or 2/3 or 2 points ?.... i like 1 point each, myuself as otherwise an excellent singles player ( wish i were won) has their value to the team downgraded....
( not really that cocky about the finals, but figure its better to get clarification at the start... Thanks again , Ian
1) is ir required that each player be in 3 matches a round, or can 2 guys do both dubs etc... - In each round each player must play 3 games consisting of 1 double, 1 quad and either the triples OR singles game. So each player can only play in 1 of the doubles games per round, probably a good idea to scout out the games for each round and set up the best possible options
it the plan is each of the 4 is in a dub, and the 4 guys each are in the trip and single , can we switch singlesa players in the different rounds...? Yes, you have it correct here. Every team member will be in a doubles, and between the 4 members you will make a trips and singles for each round. The quads game will be the 3rd game of each players round. You are required to switch who the singles player is each round. You may choose to save your "best" singles player for the championship round, but there's no guarantee that a team makes it that far.
will being part of a winning trip team count as 1 point same as the single This is a good point. I will make the tiebreak to be the player with the most wins, ie singles, doubles, trips and quads will all be worth 1 point for the purposes of the tiebreak
No team member is allowed to play in more than 1 singles match through Round 4
English speakers may logically understand this as 'only during round 4'. In Merican it may be different, I suspect 'for rounds 1 to 3' or. 'for rounds 1 to 4'. Either way, please clarify for English speakers
I mean to say that at the end of Round 4 (if a team makes it to Round 4), each team member would've played in 1 singles game. IE. if you've made it to the finals and are the only one on your team to have not played a singles game, you're up!
Gabriel, sundance123 and loenatiek are currently a team looking for a fourth.
If a fourth is not found and we end up with 6 teams I will run the tournament exactly the same way but have a crossover game to make sure there are three rounds per team still.
