I I pretty much agree with everything that icepack has said on this one, anyone with that much experience should know that they are being used to be manipulated and weigh that against the fact on whether they can win on their first try on a map. I know I brought this up before, but this same tactic has been used by other players before and there wasn't a mass influx of C&A reports about them, this is almost getting to the vendetta point. I received this pm about a year ago from a player using this tactic:
Hello, I am looking for someone good to play a couple of 1 vs. 1 games with to have some fun. Am looking for higher rank people such as yourself because when I lose to a 1 stripper or so, I lose about 80 points. Anyways, you'll get about 40 to 50 points per win, and lose only about 10 per loss. The games are auto, sequential, chained foggy, and no spoils, so let me know if you are interested and I will invite you to a few games on different maps.
This roughly translates to "I think I can get more points by challenging people that know the game but are unfamiliar with the maps I'm using. If you decide to take this gamble you can get a decent amount of points from a 1v1 game, and you have little to lose." I accepted this challenge and lost, but nobody was typing up paragraphs about abuse because the common view is that I, at roughly 2000 points and 1000+ games, should know what I was getting into.
Is GLG manipulating the system for maximum efficiency? yes, but it isn't cheating or abuse. Having ethics in an Internet game is a fucking joke, as no body is ultimately hurt by GLG's actions, sure the e-genitalia may hurt a bit. They might not agree with what other people do for their casual enjoyment, but just because your fun is different that somebody else's doesnt mean you get to decide what is ethical, its just a game.
I'm trying to keep analogies out of this, but in other online games like xbox live for example, people will spawn kill or do certain things to boost/inflate their rank but nobody comes along beating the drum calling for them to be removed/ punished for it.
on a side note the survey thing should be ignored because anyone whose taken a couple of stats classes knows that the people most likely to respond to a survey are the ones with strong negative opinions.
