nagerous, how long has it been since you played? Because it was in the joke vote stage, are you used to joke voting or did it just not happen when you used to play?

i played with him before he left. I'm pretty sure he's familiar with the joke vote phase.

Well he thought it was scummy when I voted him for "Never playing with him before". Unless it was sarcasm in which case I will give the warning that sarcasm does not transfer well over the internet.

you're right. that's weird. I'm starting to get scum vibes from him, especially for this post:

It seems a little bit early to start pushing against inactives, I personally haven't been able to post over the last couple of days because I have been at work, down the pub/club and asleep. Everyone is pretty busy during the week so I am sure freezie will have a chance to catch up soon.

it's random D1 pressure exercise to test freezie's claim, e.g., a place to start

Just seems a little too random to me, I know day 1 can be a little hard to find real leads but I am failing to see why he should be the first to claim merely because he has not posted in a couple of days. Call me out for defending someone quite early if you will but I've got my eye on a couple of those who saw a wagon developing and jumped on it in a sudden succession of posts, whilst hoping to stay un-noticed

Emphasis in bold. Isn't D1 all random? And without randomness (random BWs I mean) doesn't D1 usually end up in no lynch? And doesn't no lynch = mafia win? (maybe not because of 1 no lynch but each one helps the mafia a little more depending on situation of course)

Hmm... maybe he's just gotten a bit rusty from a while away from the game. Or maybe I'm just paranoid. I'll let it slide for now I guess.

Also, I like quotes :P

Well I am not so quick to let things slide as most know. Nag, mind explaining why you are not so familiar with D1 randomness, etc? From what I hear you are basically a god at mafia so I find it hard to believe that you would forget your old tips and tricks.

That was not the reason I queried your vote, it was because I thought it odd that someone would vote someone else because they were considered good. I have not played a game in six months but prior to that I have probably played over 50 games on this site, so yes I am familiar with the day 1 randomness. I know that your vote was not ultimately a serious vote and random and you were not actually trying to lynch me, I was still querying it though because the reasoning was slightly off. Was a very weak lead so I didn't even put a FOS or vote behind my response - but your reaction over a series of posts is somewhat telling ;)

Well, I can think of one arguably justifiable reason to want to go after "good" players early on day 1. Basically, there are certain players who are skilled enough at this game, that if mafia they stand little chance of being lynched unless hard evidence is found. (ie a cop randomly investigates them or something.) So, one way that you could try and get around this would be to attempt to make them then day 1 case. Since day 1 cases are pretty much always weak and often end up advanced by nothing more than inertia, you might have more luck succeeding with a case on these people on day 1 than you would later in the game.

Of course, the flip-side to this, is that scum may also want to get those same players lynched day 1...

Only line in here that matters. That is why it is good meta to investigate the good players, the bad ones hang themselves.

Well nag the reason it is a big deal to me is that you actually made it sound like my reason mattered in a joke vote...when none actually do. People joke vote saying crap like "speedlynch gogogo" but you are trying to find reason for my joke vote to hold weight.

That doesn't necessarily make you a good player :P Also they have a point, your vote and post was very odd.

I hate that it is always noobs that get lynched day 1, honestly I think I could drop a tell a minute and no one would lynch me (probably cursing myself).

Good players do make tells, the reason they don't get lynched is they post strongly in their defense once they have. I don't think nag, you or me should be immune for lynching purely because we know what to say in our defense, in fact it makes a tell more telling.

I'm not saying that I suspect either of you at the moment, but I am not saying I don't either. ;)

If anyone hasn't stated their opinion on claiming yet, please do so.

On the topic of mass claim, I say NO! Not only is that not a fun way to play but I just don't see it working. Too easy for mafia to fakeclaim and then take out our power roles.

What do you think of the freezie wagon? (which still exists)
Is there anyone else that strikes you as scummy?
What do you think of partial mass claims, top 3/5?
Why have did you not post in this thread over the past few days while you were active in other games?

No, but now that I have a computer I'll add. :)
What do you think of the freezie wagon? (which still exists)?
Usual Day 1 stuff. Unless someone does something scummy, Day 1 always has an inactive bandwagon. Though it seems to have gone a bit farther than usual. I don't think Clever should have jumped on but he's pretty new.
Is there anyone else that strikes you as scummy?
SG7. His post against Nag's on the wagon being too random made my scum meter jump. Nag had made a logical post and SG7 jumped on one sentence of it without seeming to read the rest.
What do you think of partial mass claims, top 3/5?
I'm number 4 and I don't think that would be a good idea. I have a pretty good idea of who the first three chose and I don't think it would help town to out those roles.
Why have did you not post in this thread over the past few days while you were active in other games?
I only made a post or two in one game and that was because it was super important. I had to counterclaim and so spent a long time making my fingers hurt while typing the posts out on my phone.
Were you lurking?
No.

It's not because of Clever putting Freezie at L3 but that he has said almost nothing so far and then just jumps on the first wagon to come along. He didn't even do a joke vote. Just doesn't sit too well with me... I kinda want to pass it off as a noob thing but he's in/been in a lot of games. Seems he should have learned a thing or two by now.
