Corrigador

Map Name: Corrigador
Mapmaker(s): thehippo8
Number of Territories: 44
Special Features: Escalating disconnected bonuses
What Makes This Map Worthy of Being Made: We need more Island maps.

In the 1800's this was the scene ofAmerican/Spanish conlict. Resulting in the American's ultimately winning and digging in ... literally. The Island is riddled with defensive military tunnels.

Of more note, however, is that Corrigador (a small Island in Manila bay) was the scene of one of the most important battles in the second world war. The Americans lost it to the Japanese in 1941 but regained it in 1945. Had they not regained it then the Phillipines may have been lost and with it the Pacific and that may have changed the fate of the Pacific and possibly the whole war!

Version 1: Gameplay is an amalgum of concepts. Tunnels are too difficult to represent (no 3d options here) so I've played with the roads so that there are long lines like tunnels. There is an even split between gun batteries and strategic positions and special recognition for the anti-aircraft guns (so just six of those - in fact there were five but the sixth is the airport itself which works better as a sixth position). I've planned it that the troops become ever more escalating, which could lead to some interesting games, but another option would be to have an objective of gaining all the green dots. Some feedback on preferences there would be good. At the moment there are no wasted squares so there is incentive get on and fight!

Version 2: Only six of each type, 1 extra for every 2 (like disconnected regions) and the rest neutrals.

So. How do you intend the games to start?

You have the map full of collection bonuses, like +1 for 3 and such - how do you ensure fair drops?

That is an excellent question! But one I'm not really sure about!! One option is to have six of each colour dots and the rest neutrals, that might be better!? That'd provide 24 neutrals against three "regions" of disconnected coloured dots. Then it could be +1 for 2, +2 for 4 and +3 for all six?!

Like this! It involves a bit of artistic license with the military equipment, but hey - gameplay is more important than reality!!
