I vote for the older one also - along with the "Gobi Desert" text - it had a nice feel to it.

Old old (with the yellow border) or the one with the big blur to make it dissipate?

WELL if the desert is a impassable why not remove it completely and but a oasis or river or maybe those nice mountains...

The reason i think your haviong problems is that u got 3d mountains and buildings and a flat desert....

Someone has already suggested this....

Apart from that this map is fantastic :)

This is my preference - all your features, mountains, wall, are 3d. This desert has dunes.

maybe you should try to make the desert have a definite black outline like the other territories and not have it trying to spill all over the place because thats not working.

I think when i've got time I'll have a crack at three options and put it to a vote. It doesn't seem like theres gonna be any kind of consensus here.

              Final Forge

---Mongol Empire Map has reached the ‘Final Forge’ Stage. I've revived this thread from the pits of the Foundry furnace and have examined the contents. Nearly every major concern has been addressed. If there are any other current concerns, please make your voice heard. There will be at least two days (but may extend pass that) for you to post any objections; if no one has posted any protest after two days the map will be deemed finished with the 'Foundry Brand' of approval and will be submitted for live play. If after two days there is still discussion going on it may continue until said discussion has reached the conclusion that the map has reached its final and polished version.

Post questions and concerns if any.

Please vote for either 1, 2 or 3:

OPTION 1: Diffused edges to give the impression of sand and dunes

Image

OPTION 2: A more solid look but without black borders

Image

OPTION 3: The old desert - Black and yellow borders to integrate it into the map (please remember the GOBI DESERT name won't be there)

Well tell me and I'll just mentally swap it over in the final tally.
