Breaking Multiple Account Rule [CLOSED] KRK

Postby Commerce on Fri Dec 16, 2011 10:05 am

Hi Moderators,

I notice that I have been "caught" having multiple accounts and have lost my premium membership. I have to defend my position here because I was guilty of having more than one account in 2010. I had 4 accounts running at the same time. I hadn't played any games on those names since (please check the games status) and refuse to because I've created a new account (this one) that I have recently gone premium on. I enjoy being a part of the CC community. Thanks for maintaining a great source of escape from the day to day drudgery of work. =D>

What I am guilty of (this time) is assuming that making a new account under the same IP and going premium on that account was enough to be forgiven for my wrong-doing last year. I haven't gained anything from having those 4 other accounts and as far as I'm concerned, I've been promoting the CC website with my friends and colleagues and therefore have been an active member of the CC community. I've managed to coax 5 different people to join me in playing casual risk games (b_coxam, lindsayc, cl.cortex, monet0013 and LChammer) and one of them is looking to premium in the next week or so...

If you could help me out by deleting the 4 accounts I mentioned previsouly from the server, I would greatly appreciate it. Notice from my games history that I have never played with those names together in a game. I had a premium membership, I played as many games as I wanted. It doesn't make any sense to me that the premium be taken away from me when I'm clearly doing the right thing by signing up for premium in the first place.

Perhaps I should have talked to admin and asked them to delete the last 4 accounts before I went ahead and started playing on this new one. Perhaps I should have just gone premium in one of those other accounts. To be honest, I wasn't aware that the IP sweeps works for inactive accounts as well as active ones and therefore took the risk (no pun intended) of starting a fresh.

I would love to have premium back. Please understand my situation. I've definitely learnt my lesson last year and I'm just looking to start fresh with this Commerce account. I understand you have rules you have to inforce and I completely agree with them but my situation is different and one look at the games history will answer all your questions. I hope one of the admin staff/volunteer has the time to have a look at the games history of four names above to have a clear understanding that there was no foul play involved.

I apologize for this long message but I feel the need to clarify my situation. I'll happily support the website in the coming years. I enjoy playing risk games thoroughly and I'm on my way to collecting more and more medals and hopefully achieve a level of play that I can be proud of. I also need to say that I physically can't pay for another premium because of this misunderstanding. I don't want to pay twice for something that I've stupidly done more than a year ago.

I look forward to hearing back from you soon.

Kind regards,

Commerce

PS. I don't know if CC and it's staff/volunteers have considered it but I just thought that it would be nice for players to know how far off they are from each medal. If each player can get a tally of how many more unique opponents they'll need to kill to reach their next medal, I believe this addition to the player's profile will give the player another thing to look forward to. I'm sure it will promote goal setting and the more attached a player is to their account, the better it is for CC because of future subscriptions and free marketing to the player's "real-world" friends and colleagues. Just an idea :)

Commerce, it's great that you've been promoting CC to your friends, and word of mouth advertising is good stuff indeed, but did you not see the message when you signed up for your first account that multiple accounts are not allowed? "

Having multiple accounts is considered cheating. We routinely scan for multiple accounts and offending members will be banned from Conquer Club."

And you had to check the box that said you'd only ever have the one account.

We don't get to start over. Our game history sticks with us, for bad or good. Besides, eventually it all evens out, anyway.

And like b00060 said, maprank is available as a BoB add-oh. You'll need to be using Firefox and download the Greasemonkey plug-in and BOB add-on. Details are here.

Actually what he is saying make sense because he cheated before buying the premium (if that is true)

Lets say that the staff had caught him when he was cheating. They would have deleted his accounts and then he would have start a new premium account. So overall he would have payed for premium once and he would have a premium account starting with no games and rating (or I am wrong?).

So it does not seems reasonable to me, for the same cheating to have a deferent punishment depending on when the staff caught you. It seems more reasonable to let him have a new premium account starting from 1000 rating like he was caught when he was actually cheating.

Only cheaters defend cheaters and as I have suspected all along our present (Conqueror) and I lose that term lightly seems to be worried here.

ONE account, plain and simple!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There are and should not be any grey areas here, nothing to defend, nothing to clarify. One and done, simple as that! I don't not care what additional account was created and when, if you are found to be a multi, ALL accounts should be cancelled, future, past, present or otherwise. This crap of when and how is just that CRAP.

Not really, even the cheaters have rights and reasonable people should defend them.

In addition I didn't really defended him, I just pointed out which should be his punishment according to my point of view. Should people do that or at that sub-forum we should only write evidence?

If he was a premium at the time of getting caught, he would have been alright.

Hi guys,

Thanks for responding and giving me the tip on how to keep track of my games. I really appreciate you guys taking the time to read my post.

Yes I did click that checkbox last year and I did it again this year. I was wrong in what I did. I understand and apologize for what I've done. What I would like to know is where do I go from here?

I cheated last year. That's a fact. Did I cheat since I joined this year? No I haven't. I understand everyone's frustration with cheaters. I cheated last year only to play more games, nothing more. I've looked at my games history with those 4 names (see below) and I didn't join the same game with both names. It was purely because I was cheap and didn't want to pay the premium subscription... I regret that. I cheated in a grand total of 23 games. I've played over 150 games since I joined in late October and not once have I logged on with the other accounts. I can't even remember the passwords to be honest...

I bought premium this year to play more games and to have the ability to create private games for my friends and workmates. I've enjoyed CC thoroughly and would love to stay on playing.

To be quite frank, I'm happy for you to suggest the things I'll need to do to rectify my situation. I will follow any reasonable suggestion.

In hindsight, I should have PM'd one of the moderators to ask for advice on how to go forward from last year's position. I shouldn't have assumed that my old accounts that haven't been used for over a year will stay on CC and come back to bite me in the arse. It's fair enough though because I did click that button. So since I don't plan on changing email addresses and buying a new PC (mind you, I do need an upgrade), will my cheating accounts haunt this IP address of mine for good?

Will all my accounts be cancelled so I can start fresh? Will I need to get an average of all my results from all accounts and build an account with the result from that calculation? Where do I go from here?

I just want to play risk online to be honest. I'm learning from SoC and I'm telling anyone who is vaguely interested in games about this cool website. The funny thing about it is,right after people say they're going to join, I tell them about the no more than one account rule and how I got burnt last year when I did that. It's ironic that I get burnt again for doing what I thought was the right thing by buying the premium to be a legitimate part of the CC community.

I've stated my case. All I ask from people who reply is to read it carefully. It all makes perfect sense to me and I really do want everyone to know where I'm coming from. I cheated. It's true. I'm here to be part of the CC community. There's no denying that. I'm paying for something I stupidly done one and a half years ago, when I've done the right thing and bought the premium subscription to scratch this great big risk itch of mine.

Please feel free to ask me any questions about my case. I'll answer whatever comes back. I just want to play this cool game online with my premium subscription. I'll understand if my premium doesn't get renewed. I stand by what I said in my previous post though, I refuse to pay for another until the one year premium has elapsed. Yes I've done wrong by CC but I also showed that I can be part of this community and have done right by CC by marketing your website to my friends and colleagues. I am a loyal member of this website and have a feeling that I will be in years to come so please decide my fate moderators/volunteers.

Sincerely,

Commerce

Commerce,

One account per person and that account NEVER is deleted.
So when you create 4 more accounts, MH moderators act quickly and bust you.

Today, you should have received an email stating the multi bust and the proper method of contesting the bust, if you so wish.

Nevertheless, a bust is a bust.

So, what you MUST do now, is to state your case here -> http://www.conquerclub.com/eticket/index.php#openticket.

I have a question for anyone who can answer me.

Are "Multi's" then banned for life from playing on CC? Is that what this thread is talking about?

Ok; Maybe that was two questions. Lol
