I prefer the old effect as well, although I do like the uneven thickness of the borders.

I think that's what made it stand out. The old effect has an uneven fill, which suggests that the "child" who drew it is doing so for amusement, and not really caring how the lines turn out. The new effect looks like it was drawn carefully, taking care to keep the lines evenly shaded. To me, the old effect better resembles the how crayon tracings usually end up.

I wouldn't mind seeing it as just "South Africa". I'd expect the kid to know the continent names, and given that South Africa is actually a country, it seems likely that he/she would remember the name. I love Sarah Desert though
