First of all, sorry for the long thread name, but I felt a need to explain why I'm proposing another Yugoslavia map while one is already being made.
Second, this is the first map I’ve ever tried to make. I’m pretty sure I’ll be able to tackle with the XML. Although I have some (little) experience working in Photoshop, I won’t be able to do the graphics myself.
OK, now let’s get to the idea itself. Yugoslavia’s various divisions at different times was what inspired me to try to make a map where many bonus regions overlap, but their worth is not determined by their size. Now, you may think at first that gameplay on such a map would be heavily imbalanced, but… I’m not stupid; of course I found ways to balance it, though it will require much work to make it really balanced. Here’s just a very rough graphic representation of my idea. Terts marked with yellow are capitals o SFRY republic and start of 3 neutral. Belgrade starts 6 neutral. Since Macedonia looked to strong and easy to hold, I thought about making the land dominantly inhabited by Albanians start as neutral. So terts # 37, 38 and 39 (maybe 45 as well) start with 3 neutral each. In order to make the middle of the map more interesting, I decided to take a step beyond Yugo and added bonuses for the Bosnian entities.
Bonuses
• Capitals: +1 autodeploy
• Belgrade: +3 autodeploy
• SFRY republics: +3
• Kingdom of Yugoslavia banovine: +2
• Less than countries: +1 for one, +3 for 2, +7 for all three
I’m sleepy now. I will explain further tomorrow.
