What is to be done for the bonus xml?
Do i have to do overrides for collections above 8 for the British weather line for instance.

Yes and no. If you had enough ships you'd have "16 Weather Line British ships" override "8 Weather Line British ships", but seeing as how you don't have 16, you'd only need to code one continent. Does that answer your question?

Hi Sully. To answer your question, yes and no.
Let's take the BWL as example...there are 14 ships available for the bonus pickings.
when you get 8 ships you get the bonus +5.
what happens when you get the marginal 9th ship? effectively you can have two lots of 8 ships for a bonus of +10.
does this happen? and does it propogate up to those 14 ships available?

No. It would be coded with a <required> tag, so that if you have at least what's in the <required></required> tags, you get the bonus. Any more, and you still get the same exact bonus. So, for example, if you had all 14 BWL ships, you'd still only get +5.

OK. I understand, thanks Sully.
Sorry for being a pest to you and tnb80, actually a lot of this had been sorted back on page 28 and because i had this in the trash can, i had (almost) forgotten about it. But thank goodness i went back and looked at the hard work that had already been done.
So for now, i am putting up xml V50 link

Below you will see your continents with the required tags, plus the flagship continents being required as part of the overall weather/lee lines bonuses. I hope this is correct. If so then, all to be done is centering. :)

Not all territories need to be accounted for in continents and the <required> tag isn't necessary when the required minimum is all of the components.

the rope margin on the left and right side is darker. perhaps there are 2 rope layers overlayed?

DiM, i look at that again, although i don't know if i can do much about it...its my software...you have to have two layers of an item to get the drop shadow on both sides, having said that i don't know if a glow would work, so stay tuned. thanks.

Fixed. i've managed to tweak some areas of that whole border, plus deduct the overlays, and add the glow to those four picees of rope. I hope this works. ;)

Good. i also picked up a misplaced drop shadow on the rope - top right side
and have moved the dotted lines on the legend ships 'Same Side" behind the ships.

V51 offers some changes.

    * Commander images changed so that Nelson has his hat on, and both placed in a circular frame, i was quite unhappy with the old images after looking at the after some months.
    * The text has been converted to Coreldraw so that it appears better at 300 dpi.

Hope this makes some difference. :)

i am very happy with its current state and if it were up to me i'd probably quench it right now. :)
neah, just joking, i'd only final forge it, give it a thorough check-up when i wake up and then quench it.

so expect a bit of nitpicking later today :P
i just came back from a wedding reception and i'm really exhausted so i can;t really trust my eyes.

from long ago I have some problem with stern sail of flagships
I always found it a bit anaesthetic
but when I checked your map for last nitpicking
I made confusion between lateral guns and stern sail
at the first glance it may seems that the sail is a gun
which may induce big strategy difference
I would say get rid of it as the difference with ship of the line is 1 or 2 troops on it
then I will be happy

ok so i;m back with fresh eyes.
first, in regard to pamoa's concern, i suggest leaving the stern sails the same but changing all the cannons to dark grey or black. i think this would solve all confusion.

also i'm not sure but the brithish flagship names seem a bit more intense than the other flagship names. maybe it's just the red that stands out more on the background or maybe there are some different opacity settings. it might be worth checking that.

I would say get rid of it as the difference with ship of the line is 1 or 2 troops on it
then I will be happy

first, in regard to pamoa's concern, i suggest leaving the stern sails the same but changing all the cannons to dark grey or black. i think this would solve all confusion.

also i'm not sure but the brithish flagship names seem a bit more intense than the other flagship names. maybe it's just the red that stands out more on the background or maybe there are some different opacity settings. it might be worth checking that.

thanks guys. :)

V52
* flagship sails remain
* all cannon are changed to gunmetal grey - a dark grey with blue 25% opacity colour overaly with metal grain
* lots of little tweaks made to rotation of ships and fire lines and cannon placement
* opacity changed on all flagship names to 60%...DiM, i think the Brits names are stronger because of the double line of Royal Sovereign...it draws your eyes to it simply because it is larger.

Hope this fulfills

very good changes cairns.
remember i told you at some point about blurry updates on the armada map? this is happening here too. but only on the large map.
this version: http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s282/cairnswk/trafalgar/trafalgar_V45L.jpg
looked a lot clearer. i don't know exactly what's happening but the blurriness is visible. maybe check your photobucket settings. when i got over 1Mb photobucket automatically reduced the resolution but kept the quality. maybe you have settings on photobucket to preserve the resolution and reduce the quality.

Yes, photobucket does that to jpg:s - it recompresses them. Png:s are immune to it though.

Thanks for picking that up DiM. I am proabably too close with old eyes to see those things.
The basic file without text is a .png that is imported in Coreldraw and the text is done in CD. The whole image is then exported to S.jpg file. Then the Cd file is expanded to its larger size and exported against to L.jpg file. Then both uploaded to Pbucket. My Pb account is a pro that allows 2mb file size but the file size that was being uploaded was 637kb for small and 697kb for large instead of 937kb for large. So that large image should be clearer now. :?:

Yes natty i am aware of those conditions. As i have stated previously though i don't like uploading .pngs until last image to lackattack as you have to wait too long for them to download while simply wanting to view the image for comment, and also the .png file size is sometimes 4 times that of a .jpg.

just out of curiosity, why are you doing the text in coreldraw and not fireworks (if i remember correctly you used to use fireworks). or maybe you switched to photoshop but the question is still valid.

Because CD renders better at 300 dpi than does FWs.
FWs is really only a web application that is designed principally for 72dpi and although you have 300 dpi capacity in it, i feel after using it for many years, (not only for CC but for other webwork/design i used to do professionally) that i doesn't produce the same quality text as does PS or IL or CD.These three packages are known for their professional abilities.
If i had PS5 working right now, i'd redo the entire map in PS5.

You could also use imageshack, they don't mess with jpg:s as far as I can tell.
