I just think the small would look too crowded with them. Remember that both images will have army numbers on them.

Ah, one little nitpick: a small chunk seems to be missing from the w in "wa" on the large map.

I actually like the map loads more with the bonus names on the map.

Just a wild thought, could you try and take the large with the names and shrink it down to the small so e can see it? Please?

I can do better than that. I added the names on the small and made an image with 888:s on top of it:

I never use the large map and I prefer the bonus letters :( . I still think the smaller one looks unfinished, I keep trying to look at it with new eyes but every time I just say "nope, doesn't look finished." Okay, I've said my peace, I won't bring up this point again ;) .

Wow, yeah, that's like the helpful comment of the year award right there. Wow. Everything is so clear now. All I need to do is make the image finished. I'll go do that now. Yeah. Wow.

The xml looks ok, I'm just waiting for a second opinion...in the meanwhile I'd like to suggest 3 things...don't worry they are minor things ;)

- Did you try to move the whole content of the legend a bit down, I mean you have some pixel in the lower part of the parachment and very close icons at the top of it. Why don't move everything down?
- Can you make more clear that liaodong doesn't border with lower yalu? specially on the small version. I think you need just to change a bit hwando so it shouldn't be a great issue.
- There's a way to make more distinct the change of color/double color in hanju? again specially on the small version, where it's not so noticeable with armies on it....

Could you please move a bit to left Tamna on the small version? I know you want to have stripes visible but the armies on the sea looks really bad. If you come up with something like what you have on the big version, then it would be great. :)
Geumgwan-gaya should be also moved a bit to left and down, but i don't know if you have space there...

Maecho Fortress text might get overlapped when triple digits come into play (either real triple or double digits plus color codes), but I don't think there is much an issue there.

Looking at the right-hand legend, should you add a period at the end of the territory phrase/sentence, since you have periods at the end of the others?

Also in the right-hand legend, would a dividing line between the mountains text and junks text make a quick glance easier?

For the signatures, there is a lovely space in the upper left. It doesn't look like you've experimented with any other placement, since signature introduction in Version 9. I think the legend area is packed enough with essential text, that non essential text can be moved away.

Lastly, I love the Three Kingdoms and dragon title. It gets a little lost in the middle of the map I think. Perhaps if you don't move the signatures to upper left, the Title could be moved there.

Anyways, just some thoughts. I'm really digging this map.

It doesn't, I've checked.

Yep, I can do this.

AndyDufresne wrote:Also in the right-hand legend, would a dividing line between the mountains text and junks text make a quick glance easier?

I don't think it's be necessary. It's relatively simple information there, stuff that you usually only have to read once (mountains are impassables, junks attack junks, it's clear after reading it and you don't have to refer to it afterwards) and a dividing line wouldn't really go well with the style of the map.

For both of these, I can answer with the same thing... I don't want to separate/spread around the legend text any more than what it is already (with the two legends). It's best to have all the legend information in one place when possible. Also, the title is already in a prominent place on the map, I actually think the current place is the best one for it (most central, highlighted, a place between the land areas which draws your eye to it) and placing it to the side would not be as effective. As for signatures, moving them to a place with no other text would make them stand out and look pasted on. With their current placement they look more like they "belong" to the map.
