Question on posting restriction

Postby Rodion on Mon May 16, 2011 1:15 am

1 - When you have a PR, is there a hidden clause that forbids you from explaining that your "weird behaviour" is being caused by a PR?

Example for question 2:

Player A has a PR that can get him lynched because it makes him look scummy (let's say he has to insult people on every post he makes)
Player B suspects Player A is pro-town and is only being viewed as scummy because of a PR
Player B says: "If you have a PR, use "Y" as the first letter of your next post; if you don't, start your next post with "N".
Player A's next post starts with: "You are all stupid!"

2 - Did anyone break a rule there? Who?

PR's are usually fun anyways. Most people use a spoiler to let people know they're using a PR, otherwise it becomes pretty obvious anyways. I don't think it's a modkillable offense.

Unless the mod specifically state it then you are safe. A lot of mods enjoy PR's as it adds flavor to the game. Just be careful when you explain. You could just say PR and no one will really push it. Sometimes PR's give away too much if you share it entirely.

Go with the flow, stick to the PR. It will add to the flavour (unless it's a Fir game). Players well catch it soon enough, and when you are asked what you are doing, find a way to explain the pr.

Spoilers are an option, though I find them a bit less fun 8-[

I have not used or ever had a pr but my general knowledge is that you are allowed to say so but unless it is causing a misunderstanding why ruin the fun?

If there was a record for the most insane PR around- I think I would have to take it for Post-Apocalyptic Mafia.

I thought i was the only one who used those spoiler tags- i didn't know others had done it before.

I don't think even I could decode some of those posts that i wrote

I think the worst one had to be this:

viewtopic.php?f=610&t=133592&p=2999463&hilit=+Post+Apocalyptic+Mafia+#p2999463

No actually, maybe it was this one:
viewtopic.php?f=610&t=133592&p=2937675&hilit=+Post+Apocalyptic+Mafia+#p2937675

It just got worse and worse:
viewtopic.php?f=610&t=133592&p=2963235&hilit=+Post+Apocalyptic+Mafia+#p2963235

This one is plain scary:
viewtopic.php?f=610&t=133592&p=3006334&hilit=+Post+Apocalyptic+Mafia+#p3006334

When got tonkaed modded, he had some insane ones. I remember nag had to post Indian Cricket Scores at least once every day or something like that.

That was actually a pretty big part of asylum games. I purposely would use or invent (cause its not like id see if they were actual characters) roles to try and get people to do a funny pr.

I had to replace a player because they wouldn't quote from the Koran. Which was weak.

i find prs quite funny. usually people figure out who's got a pr and don't need the player to tell, but it's alright if they do (unless of course the mod says they can't in the role pm).
who here has gotten one at least once? i haven't gotten any yet, Praise the Lord I've never had to say silly things.

I handed them our left and right in Grimm's fairy tales.....lol, very frustrating for some players. Bad poets was tough too because it was all one type of poetry. Haiku was the best....lol. Instant scum is what we all thought. As ya, the ones from asylum were good, some harder to figure out then others.

Ever done a self imposed pr? in the buffy mafia I played Giles and I decided as my pr my character was upset with the council and Wesley and had to mention it at least once a day.

Oh I just remembered I did have a pr once but it was in an abandoned game (clue mafia). I was Mrs. Scarlet I think and had to flirt with all the male characters. There was more to it but I forgot the specifics...

SOB, that game died so fast it was so disappointing. I had roles like that for everyone in that game, unfortunately it came at a time where even this forum was in discussions of shutting down as mafia was so dead. That was my last attempt. Perhaps one day when enough active players return I will try again.

There were PR's in Masque of The Red Death where players had to claim they were the prince in order to save the real prince should he be forced to claim....lol. That PR would have been hilarious but Red Death won the game before it was used.

You know I have never let town forget that lol. Well ok I don't mention it as much as I used to but still it was fun.

I honestly feel I played my pr pretty well in clue mafia until I started getting distracted and only popped in to post my opinions...

You did as did everyone else. But it was just a bad time 5 comments in 3 days or more. And it wasn't just there, it was all the games. I left after that for a bit because I just assumed mafia was over at that time. Thankfully, it hung on. Who knows maybe one of these days I can actually do one more truly epic game here if the player base builds up enough. Joined them and made them elsewhere, but never here. It would be epic though because it would have fake personas for all players, Constant aim logins for the players alone so they could talk to eachother without bieng in the thread and live challenges and games. But Hell, I had enough of a hard time keeping Batman going on this site when it first started. 3 players replaced one character and thank god the 4th one who replaced hung around or that game had the potential of dying too...lol. PR's are always awesome though, I think they make the games more enjoyable.

Yeah I didn't use any in my first mafia game but I thought about giving Neil Perry the pr that he could only role claim that he was the ice truck killer but in the end I felt that would unbalance the game and even if it did not it would still be unfair to the one claiming the role.

For my next mafia I have a few prs already in mind for either theme and working on more but what those prs may be is on a need to know basis.

I tend not to use them. I prefer giving everyone a fair shot at posting and defending.
