VioIet[closed]es

Postby Master Chief on Fri Apr 29, 2011 4:01 pm

Accused:

VioIet

The accused are suspected of:

Other: Deliberately sabotaging a game while sitting in for someone's account.

Game number(s):

Game 8070724
Game 8044582

Thanks mviola for finding the 2nd game #. Not sure if there is another one. If anyone finds it, thanks.

Comments:

Back when I was friends with her, I had to go out of town for a few days, and I didn't have any sitters for my account. I asked her if she could, and she agreed. I came back a few days later to find that she had intentionally sabotaged a few of my games because they were against her clan members. She never apologized, but actually said that she didn't do anything wrong, since she couldn't knowingly let me win against her fellow clan members. I was extremely pissed, and so were my teammates. I quickly changed my password afterward, and since then, I have never let anyone have my password or have access to my account. I feel like there should be some punishment for what she did, not because it ruined my games, I got over that, but because she might be doing it to other people, or other people might be doing the same thing. The whole "your opponents were in my clan, so I couldn't take that turn and do the right thing" shouldn't be a legitimate excuse. When you sit for someone's account and agree to take their turns, you should do your best regardless of the opponents. I didn't report this before because I didn't think it was that big a deal at the time, but after thinking it over and talking with other CC members, I felt like this issue needed to be addressed. To be clear, I am not accusing her clan or any member in her clan, just her.

I thought there was another game but I can't seem to find it. I tried looking at all the games I had around that game #, but I didn't see any with her clan members.

weird, silly thing to do for clan mates(and I'm in her clan). Doesn't seem like something she would do, are you sure it was her? what exactly did she say in reply?

Am I sure that she was the only person that had my password at the time? Yes. Am I sure that wasn't me taking that turn? Yes. I don't see any other explanation except that she took the turn, and deliberately deployed in a place that did absolutely nothing to help whatsoever, and did no forts. Read the game chat on the game link.

As for what she said in reply, I pretty much cut all ties with her after the incident, other than me chewing her out, and her defending herself, I don't remember much. It was a few months ago. I've been in a few clans before and I've never heard of a policy in which you do a thing like this, so I wasn't sure if it was just her or not. Feel free to ask her yourself.

Wow, just when I think I've run out of things to laugh at....

For the record, reading through the log, Pink on Team 2 took the SA bonus. Team 1 attempted to load for the break.
2010-12-04 23:32:01 - Master Chief received 3 troops for 5 regions
2010-12-04 23:33:46 - Master Chief deployed 3 troops on Sydney
2010-12-04 23:33:51 - Master Chief ended the turn
At the time, Sydney was buried behind Perth and Port Moresby, both occupied by Green, so the move was completely useless.

There was a game she was sitting for that I believe I was team mates with MC that she DID put in chat something to the effect that "I don't feel comfortable attacking my clan mates". It was awhile ago-i'll try to find it.

So if this game was eons ago why is this coming out now? Really this is nothing more than BS spite crap. You all knew about this back in Dec, and should have done something then. What do you hope to get out of all this? A message from King A telling you to choose your sitters more wisely? Because that is what you will get. Sure the moves could be looked at as bad, but 5 months later? Damn I better start checking all 7000 of my games to see if one got messed up.

Move on already.

Even so, I think it's good to call out this sort of behavior as unsportsmanlike, to discourage others from doing it.

So basically she made 2 possible bad deploys so far-4 months ago. 1 against her clan and one not. And in the 2nd game you looked down big before she went-doubt you would have won regardless. Hardly evil intentions.

And again-waiting 4 months?

lol. She did not do her best. She obviously was in chat and did not follow requested strategy - She dropped uselessly. It's intentional game sabotage.

Did you happen to see the admission in Game 8070724? She was not playing in the interest of the teams that she was sitting in. This is abuse and deserves NOTED.

Nice trying to turn my words around... read what I quoted first and thanks.. btw it is not a sin also to not do what chat says... I see things in chat I would never in my right mind do when I am sitting, but hey I must be making a bad play?

Again why wait 4 months for all this to come up??

Turning your words around? What are you mumbling about? :?

It is not a sin to alter strategic move if it BENEFITS the team. It was not done for that purpose.

I believe Master Chief already and satisfactory EXPLAINED IN HIS COMPLAINT why he waited so long.

Uhuh. She just admitted in live chat that she tried to play "neutral". So it wouldn't hurt her friends. She didn't play MC's turn to benefit him or his team.

29/04/2011 23:26:03 ‹VioIet› i should have played it my best
29/04/2011 23:26:18 ‹Calidrmr› we had a similar incident in our clan

29/04/2011 23:26:30 ‹Calidrmr› luckily it was an interclan game
29/04/2011 23:26:41 ‹Calidrmr› what other way?
29/04/2011 23:26:45 ‹VioIet› and i see that there were many horrible things i could have done with the turn
29/04/2011 23:26:49 ‹VioIet› such as attack them
29/04/2011 23:27:00 ‹Calidrmr› sure...you could have made it worse
29/04/2011 23:27:02 ‹Victor Sullivan› I think Cali shares my sentiments on the situation.
29/04/2011 23:27:05 ‹VioIet› but that would have been mean, and i thought just deploying and ending was the best neutral thing to do
29/04/2011 23:27:22 ‹Calidrmr› but you shouldn't have been neutral

imo playing neutral benefits the opposing team as they are now up against 1 fewer players.

so would taking actions that benefit the opposing team when sitting another's account be intentional game throwing, point dumping or something else ?

Well quite honestly, conflict of interest means that you should probably find more than 1 sitter. I had a few games where I was in a fog team game and one of my sitters was on the other team. I had another guy take those turns and no harm was done. Was it a dishonorable thing to do? Absolutely. But given the extremely small sample size and length of time, I think that it doesn't warrant anything more than maybe a warning of some kind. Either way, it seems like MC dealt with the issue anyways.

So I have one question. Did MC know that VioIet would have conflicting interests by sitting for him? If he did then maybe he could be accused of point dumping too, or whatever you want to call this whole thing. If you are going to go ahead with this you may as well be thorough. I don't necessarily agree with the decision that VioIet made on that one turn but to accuse her of some sort of intentional misuse/sabotage of MC's account is a bit overboard.

To start off, I know both protagonists of our drama - vioiet and master chief. In fact, I know both of them well enough to consider them as my friends (as far as friendship goes in an online risk game - and that's debatable...), so I do consider myself somewhat impartial. I'm not planning to get involved into the conflict, but I do think I have a right to leave my opinion.

First of all, I think that both sides could have handled this much better than they have:

Vioiet - if you tell somewhat you're taking his/her turns, you have to understand that that you have been trusted with a tremendous amount of respect and that's not something to be toyed with. I can understand your sympathies towards your clanmates and I fully understand that you want the best for them, but sometimes you do have to fight them. This is not cutesy club (As of April 30th, 2011) and it's a war game, so you may sometimes end up fighting friends. I love my FOED bunch of drunks to death... but I'll not refrain from screwing them up badly in a game if it ends there (just ask Tdans, Kabanellas, HippieBroker - they know that I will not be afraid to screw them up). If you feel so strongly about fighting your teammates, you should have just skipped that turn - that would have prevented all of this drama.

Master Chief - you're a cool dude and a great player... but sometimes you just have to let it go, man. This is a lesson for you right here - learn it and move on. 4 months and you bring this up? Really? If you didn't trust her skills as a player, then you should have not made her your sitter. There's no need to cuss someone out and then make an accusation 4 or 5 months later about that player abusing your account - yes, she perhaps didn't handle it well, but you asked her to help - and she tried. I know her as a person well enough to be almost completely sure that there was nothing malicious behind it. Life has more about it than just being mad and wanting to get back to a person about something that happened a while ago just because you feel hurt. In a way, you should probably even thank her - she gave you a valuable lesson and it's much better to experience something like this in an online game rather than in real life situation.

Summary: I don't think there was anything malicious behind this... and this has happened once. Personally, I think that they should just kiss and make up (not make out... Gah! =; ) and this should be closed, but I do understand that she could be warned to be more careful and that this would be noted for future reference.
But... It was so artistically done.
