Yeah, could be... and thanks, I've been doing my best to get this map to look like an actual old map, imitating the style of the time.

Is there anything at all that needs to be done here?

Well a couple of little nit picks:
1) The border of salsu's water front is a little broken up;
2) liaoning's south border is a little thick.

IMO, you don't have to fix these as IT IS supposed to emulate an antique map, so I good with it the way it is.

Since you have 2 maps in FF already, we will have to wait until one of them clears Beta before we can consider moving this one on.

Edit: Can I see the new small with the 888's again please? I just want to make sure especially in the southern part of the map.

Whaaat? Since when is that a rule? I thought the "2 map rule" was only for the workshop forums, not FF. Has this been changed?

(and for the record, I have 3 maps in FF, or only 1, depending on how you count ;) )

I agree. I can assure you that nothing about the borders in this map is by accident. I've purposefully made them so they are a bit faded here, a bit broken there, to simulate an ancient map. Even the dynamics & flow of the lines is designed to mimic lines that are drawn with ancient calligraphy techniques.

Ummmm ... I understood it as 2 maps in any one forum period. I could be totally wrong on this, so I'll let the head blue guy have the final say. ;)

I'm happy with the 888's, so I will defer to my fellow blue men to see what they think. ;)

FF doesn't count against the two maps rule... and that rule is more of a guideline than a rule (I've got three maps in the works). It was designed to keep a load of work off of the carto's backs... essentially us. But since we only have like 3 maps in graphics, its not really putting any pressure on.

Anyway, that small map... I'm finding a lot to be difficult to understand. For example, I can hardly see the stripes in some of the mixed territories. Especially with the numbers and names on top of them. Is there something like a dotted border or something we could use? I think this could really be a problem.

The names are a little faint in some places. But I dunno if it should be fixed or not. It's your call on that.

I'd say my biggest concern is the stripes.

I don't know, personally I think it's pretty much good as it is... we both use large map, if I recall correctly, and I think most of those who use the small map are people with lower resolutions, for whom the map would appear larger. The stripes are visible everywhere even with the 888:s on, so I don't think there's really a problem...

However... if there is a problem, I could try making the stripes slightly thinner for the small map, perhaps that would help in the few places where only a small part of them shows. Before doing this, I'd prefer to hear from someone who mainly uses the small map to play, to make sure it is necessary...

Has anyone noticed how my version numbers seem to go hand in hand with the thread page count these days? I wonder what's up with that. It's not like I'm doing it on purpose or anything.

One little nitpick here, can you brighten it a little? I think that the legend area on the right and Wa is a little hard to read? Thanks in advance!

Thinner stripes = yes. Anything else you planning on experimenting with? Since there is time...

Time, you know, like seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, years, etc...? Oh! You mean- okay. Well, I just meant that since the cartos can't move your map yet why not experiment and investigate other design aspects?

The two map rule isaiah already mentioned? Whatever, I'm done debating with you. The cartos can do what they want.

Yes I was mistaken! Bad me

Map looks better with the subtle brightening. Wa is a bit dark still, but you don't have to do anything more with it unless you get lots of complaints while in Beta.

Anywho, can you do some magic with the spacing of the letters on kyushu on the small map? It is a little hard to read. Other than this it should be good to go soon. ;)

Well I can't change the spacing easily because I've already converted all text into vectors, but I could rotate and/or scale it somewhat...

This map looks nice, but it will be a tough play for many. It is very confusing with the stripes (Which I s till find hard to see) I am sure I am not the only one. There surely has to be a better way?
