Welcome to the first of (hopefully) many tournaments to come from GhoStedar!
All that is left to do is get the tournament privileges! If I hope I will have them by Friday; then we can get this game going.
I have decided to hold a tournament to determine that age old question: who would win? My first installment will pit the mighty honour of the Samurai against the deadly stealth of the Ninja!
Both hailing from Japan, the Samurai were military nobility while the Ninja was a mercenary specializing in unorthodox arts of war. The ninja, using covert methods of waging war, were contrasted with the samurai, who had strict rules about honor and combat.
I'm sure you didn't come here for a history lesson though, so lets get down to the tournament. Freemiums are discouraged from entering because the first two rounds require three empty game slots.
This will be a three stage contest for 16 players to see which faction will emerge victorious and who from the winning faction is the supreme warrior of Japan. (I am keeping it small for my first time. [Insert bad joke here])
Stage One: This will be used to seed the warriors within their own discipline. There will be six, eight-man free-for-alls; three for the Samurai and three for the Ninjas. These games will seed each player from 1-8 in rank for the coming battle with the enemy.
Stage Two: This is where all the braging rights can be earned for you and your discipline. The Samurai will be paired up with the Ninjas in a 1v1, best of three elimination round.
The parings will be:
anamainiacks #1 vs. ISN2 #8
mcshanester29 #2 vs. theheadholes #7
azak848 #3 vs. qwertylpc #6
usernamer #4 vs. Leatherhead #5
DJENRE #5 vs. kabuki.mono #4
GhoStedar #6 vs. rmjw10 #3
jeraado#7 vs. jgalioto #2
QoH #8 vs. morleyjoe #1
Once eliminations are made, the warriors left standing will be paired up with another warrior from the enemy discipline until only one team remains standing.
Map Settings: All games will be played on the Japan map. Since the Samurai are structured and disiplined in their warfair, the maps will be: Japan, standard, automatic, sequential, escalating, unlimited, no fog. The Ninjas will fight with covert settings: Japan, standard, manual, freestyle, escalating, unlimited, fog. In the matches where a Samurai and Ninja are in a 1v1 duel, the higher ranked player will have two rounds on home turf and one on enemy soil.
Tiebreaker: In the event of a tie, a single higher finish will be the tie breaker. (Someone who has a fourth, fifth, and sixth place record will seed higher than one with three fifth place finishes even though they both have nine points.)
Should a tie remain, the player with the higher rank score will finish with the higher seed.
Should the tie still remain, the seeding between the players will be randomly decided.
