Tranzic - Farming New Recruits[NOTED]ES

Postby SirJohn13 on Mon Mar 21, 2011 3:48 am

Accused:

Tranzic

The accused is suspected of:

Systematically farming new recruits

Game number(s):

There are too many games to post numbers here, you can search for 5-player, Standard, Automatic, Sequential, No Spoils, Unlimited, Fog games on the map Texan Wars with the accused in it.

Comments:

He has 48 active and many more finished games with precisely these settings. In his active games, approximately 90% of his opponents are new recruits. Even in his finished games, 60-65% of his opponents are still new recruits. Obviously many of his opponents leave the site a few days after joining and they simply deadbeat in their games, thus providing him with easy wins.

Also, it seems that he is opening the games himself. I don't know how he succeeds in attracting almost exclusively new recruits. I can only assume that his games appear top of the list when a new recruit clicks on 'Join a Game'

I noticed what he is doing when a friend of mine who joined the site yesterday entered one of his games.

like many you have stated your friend joined his game he was not invited this cannot be seen as farming if he is creating the games. you do not know who is gonna join them. as for the settings these are not usual farming ones either.

Quoting from another topic:

It is from here, last post on the page.

As for the game settings, it is irrelevant whether they are common for farming or not. They are certainly the settings HE uses for farming, so I guess they suit him in some way.

yep but if you look at his games you could say 40 percent of them are texas war 40 percent are feudal all same settings these are obvioulsy the board he likes (and feudal is banned for new recruits.) looking at it he has played these 2 maps since joining. and sets up in batches of the same amount.

So you are saying that players that find a setting that attracts only New Recruits, will get off free if they set up 50-75, then set up a batch of 25 other games that don't coordinate with the last ones?

I doubt it. I really doubt if it wasn't for Texas War games he wouldn't be near Major. I looked at the majority of his Feudal games he starts. He doesn't win many of them.

lets put this out there then lets put all the facts on show forgivenone

1)Tranzic has only been on the site for 3 months.
2)his 2 fav boards are feudal and texas war (he has played these since day 1 always same settings)
3)he does not invite new recruits or low ranks to the games

so what i am saying tfo is the new recruits are not being trapped into playing games with Tranzic. also Tranzic has not changed his maps or play style since day 1 of being on the site he has stuck to what he knows.

lets look at the typical farmer.

1)they set up games with hard settings and maps(that hav slipped the nr blacklist)
2)they invite low ranks into these games to stop higher ranks joining.

he has not done any of this.

Why 5 player only? If he made them 6 player he wouldn't have only new recruits but cooks too.

Do you want me to bring up the Aalmeida case eddie? He started a ton of the same gametype, and had New Recruits join, and was warned, AND given a Point Reset. It DOES NOT matter if the New Recruits are joining the game, or he is join their game. If you are playing a ton of games against them, you will be warned about it, and if it is bad enough, a point reset will be given.

He had the exact same excuse you are claiming

Tranzic has been informed that because his games are drawing so many new recruits that it is in his best interest to change up his settings like in the previously mentioned cases. This report is being NOTED.

Hello everyone,

I must admit that I was extremely shocked to realize that I've been a matter for discussion in relation to the issue at hand.

I'll begin by putting the facts straight:
1. There are two types of maps that I have come to enjoy playing – Feudal Epic and Texan Wars (and to a lesser extent – Feudal Wars and Classic).
2. I've been playing these two maps almost exclusively since I joined.
3. I'm only playing games with the following settings, regardless of the map, because this is what I enjoy playing: No Spoils, Unlimited, FOW.
4. I mostly play 5 player games, because I've found to be optimal in terms of the balance between the multiple player challenge vs. the time it takes or a full turn to complete.
5. I have never invited any player to any game since I joined, which I'm sure can be verified in logs (apart from 2-3 doubles game in Feudal Epic, where I only invited the specific partner that I wanted, but did not invite the other teams).

I have no idea why I'm getting one type of opponents in Texan Wars and a completely type in Feudal Epic, when the settings are exactly the same. Moreover, as far as I'm concerned it's simply none of my concern as I have no control whatsoever over who joins a game that I start.

When I originally started playing, I didn't initiate games but rather joined existing ones. However, at some point I realized it would be much less overhead for me to start my own games rather than continuously search for the specific combination of game settings+maps that I enjoy, so I began starting games rather than searching. At each point in time I have a few dozen Feudal Epic and a few dozen Texan Wars game running, each with the exact same settings (5 players, Unlimited, No Spoils, FOW). If you feel that playing Texan Wars with 6 players instead of 5 would change something, I'm willing to try that, as long as I'll be able to play a similar number of games.

If Texan Wars is a map that attracts "certain types of players", as you put it, then the only solution I see is for you to promote it to additional types of players in order to diversify. Looking for an easy solution by telling me not to play a specific map is simply not an option as far as I'm concerned. If you think otherwise, you are more than welcome to issue a refund and we'll part as friends.

How do you "enjoy" playing a map (Texan Wars) where > half the competition deadbeats?

When this happens, it reduces the level of fun. However, in many games this isn't the case, and it's a great map to play. I haven't played other maps, and until this forum thread landed on me, I figured that most maps are probably similar in terms of the mixture of players, and that Feudal Epic is different in that sense because it's a more unique/complicated type of map that does not attract many players (I keep seeing the same 15-20 players there repeatedly).

This thread has been opened and/or discussed completely in the wrong forum - its place is in an "Improvements & Suggestions" forum, where thought will be placed into bringing additional good players to play a good map (in my opinion - one of the more interesting maps we have here) rather than tell a player (myself, in this case) to *avoid* playing it.

As I previously wrote, I'm not planning on stopping to play one of my two favorite maps due to a situation I have no control over.

The two options are that:

1. If this is of enormous concern for the site, this map (and other similar, if such exist) should be better promoted to additional types of players in order to increase participation. All people involved in this thread are more than welcomed to join.

2. You decide that it's too much of a headache to actually deal with the problem, and insist on an easy solution by forcing me to stop playing this map – this would but unfortunate, but I'll have no choice but to accept it (it's not the end of the world, but I would naturally expect a full refund within two business days at most).

I won't be starting a new game for the next 24 hours until you notify me how you wish to proceed (I'll continue playing the current ones just so the other players won't be stuck waiting for me).

You are advised to make your Texan map game a 6 player game.

why dont you just add the map to the new recruit blacklist and let this player carry on playing a map he likes with the prefered settings he plays. and has always played this just makes the site look bad. i mean what are you actually pulling him for. like i said earlier he plays 2 maps.

feudal

texas wars.

all these games are exact same setting for both maps. so he should not be told one is ok and the other isn't. a even better idea is most players avoid the 3 player games why not reduce n/r's games to 3 player ones.

eddie seems to be the only one thinking constructively here – the others seem to be regarding this as some sort of evil scheme that could only be compared to a plot aimed at total world annihilation. The fact of the matter is that until this whole discussion started, I wasn't even aware of the fact that new recruits are limited to only join games that are up to 5 players, because I've almost only played 4-5 player games.

There are endless options that would be far better than artificially forcing players to play different settings on different maps. For example, you could limit the number of new recruits that can take part in a Texan Wars game to a maximum of 2 or 3.

In any case, in hope to resolve this, I started a number of 6 player games to test them as an alternative (however, if I end up getting no opponents to play against me, I'll have no choice but to revert back to a mixture of 5 & 6 player games so I'll be able to actually get to play).

New recruits can only join 2-5 player games so obviously making the games 6 players will work.

The one map doesn't seem to draw the players who have been around so it makes it to the first page of the join a game pages, that's why there isn't a problem with that one.

this is what the point is evil semp you cant tell some one that likes certain settings or maps that he is noted for farming on one and told to change what he pays on that one map when all his other games have that setting..instead he should be allowed to carry on playing his preffered settings and you alert the powers who is to add texas war to the list of maps new recruits arnt allowed to play.

Why yes, let's add more and more restrictions for new recruits since I'm sure there will be others out there who will have favorite settings where NR's keep joining it. The moment new recruits join CC, let's barrage them with as much restrictions as possible.

Maybe someone will get reported for making 2 player games, being that it's their favorite setting and then, if he gets too many NR's as opponents, we can also restrict new recruits from joining 2 player games too. In time, maybe they can only be restricted in playing only one map? What if that is someone's favorite map? OMG.

No more games for new recruits. Every game they join, it is someone's favorite setting anyway. Farming solved.

It isn't rocket science - there are multiple possible solutions, some more optimal than others, but none perfect. The choice of harassing existing players may be the easiest, but certainly not the brightest one.

I started a number of 6 player Texan Wars games yesterday – unfortunately, I haven't been able to play even a single one of those games because a day has passed, and only 3 other players joined (in some of those games, no player has joined yet). I have no choice but to combine 5 player games along with the 6 player ones, otherwise the lack of opponents will be equivalent to stopping to play this map altogether.

As I previously wrote, I'm not here to devastate your lives. If this is something that you've been losing sleep over during the past two days, and simply cannot see yourself living with, please contact me by email and we'll work out the details for a proper closure of my account to the satisfaction of all parties involved.

If you miss those new recruits in your games, try to limit them, hence the solution given. Try to play games with players with actual ranks. This game is not exclusively for targeting new recruits or to find some settings where new recruits usually join in. Just because you can't follow a rule, you want out. We are also not here to devastate your life.

If this farming rule has devastated your CC life, we apologize.

This had no affect over my life, but it's most annoying. I've only mostly played two types of maps here with similar settings since I joined - it's not like I explored dozens of different settings and maps in an attempt to find some sort of loophole, which I wasn't even aware of until two days ago.

If you don't want new recruits to be (so called) "farmed" - limit new recruits to only be able to play against each other, and save me the need to bother with which settings to use with map A and which not to use with map B.

I have to say really its a crock of shit where you cant set up games you want when you have paid the money. On fact I am quite sure its unlawful to evenj note this. You can join whatever games you want butcannot control who joins your games. The rules need looking at but obviously no one in the know can either be arsed nor is it in their beneficial interests.

Let me ask you this.

If you had joined this website, and were forced to only play New Recruits, would you have stayed? Considering that a majority of New Recruits join this site, join 4 games, realize that this isn't fast paced, and leave. You would have probably had to deal with only getting a turn every once in a couple days, because you are in 4 games, where at least 2-4 players are deadbeating.

I'm pretty sure if CC did that, the retention rate of New Recruits would drop, significantly.
