i also dont think you can send out several forum bans all at once if everyone was doing it at once.

You are one of the people that should receive a WARNING at minimum, although I think an example should be set and EVERYONE why replied to all should be given a 7 day VACATION.

Complete BS. Your replies were at 8:24 and 8:29.

Define "witch hunt". If your definition includes punishing people who knowingly perpetuated an ongoing nuisance, one that is against the rules, then yes, I suppose I am witch hunting, and encouraging others to as well.

I fully disagree with that definition, and feel there is no witch hunting going on here. And I honestly believe that 40kguy is NOT a witch.

The term "witch-hunt" since the 1930s has also been in use as a metaphor to refer to moral panics in general (frantic persecution of perceived enemies). that make it clearer for you ..or will this. pointing fingers at people not guilty but found on trial here on this db..

Interesting...does that mean my PM went out to everyone as well? If so, then there is something wrong with that button, because I made an explicit point of it. And my outbox shows that it only went to one individual. Darn...that removes the irony I was referring to. <sigh>

Lol I was wondering about that

Good. Then we can agree there is no witch hunt going on here. I was worried for a minute, because that's my definition as well - and clearly, no one is attempting to call an innocent person guilty here.

Also, what is this "db"? I can think of a meaning for it, but you don't seem to be using it in the same context.

I've been an active tournament player here for over 3 years, and as a result I'll often get spam messages for upcoming tournaments or as responses such as this (granted, today's was by far the worst it's ever been). I myself love the irony of people sending a message to everyone telling them to stop sending messages to everyone, and it's never been more than a minor annoyance to me. My recommendation is just to ignore all the reply PMs, unless someone feels the need to report them as spam.

This is the internet, and you're not required to read every, or any, message sent to you.

CC needs to step in and create a rule to put an end to the ever increasing onslaught of spam messages here on the site. if someone signs up for a tournament, i can understand the PM's. however, to solicit games, entries into tournaments, maps, votes in threads/etc, is simply SPAM. it has encroached upon my CC experience to the extent that tournaments are now being advertised MULTIPLE TIMES by CC's Facebook page... andy needs to step up here and put an end to unsolicited PM's from people concerning all of the above mentioned. the only response i received from a mod regarding this was to set my mailbox permissions, which is not a solution. this needs to end, it has gone on for far too long and is becoming a much bigger problem now...-the black jesus

Why? There isn't a need for anything drastic like this - people that have an issue with receiving the messages are free to report the post as spam, and the moderators can deal with it on a case by case basis. Like I said before, nobody is required to read the messages and most of us are capable of distinguishing when a message is likely to contain useful information and when one is likely to just be spam and doesn't need to be opened or read.

It's the same with the Facebook page - if you don't like the messages showing up in your news feed, unsubscribe from CC's Facebook page.

i receive 3-5 of these a week and not just for tournaments but for games, vote for maps, look at maps, etc... then you deal with the responses from the people replying to all. it is spam. there should be a rule that you can't blanket PM members if they have not signed up for your tournament, event, etc... team CC wisely doesn't blindly copy every member of CC on the newsletter, because that would be spam. so why do they allow other members to do it?!!! setting box permissions, reporting every unwanted PM is not a solution. it is time for me away from my CC experience. members should not be allowed to engage in activities like this that take away from our CC experience. in the past 3 weeks my box has been filled to capacity with this nonsense two times. that is ridiculous. team CC needs to step in and do something about it. by setting a rule, team CC then puts the users in the position to report violators of this sort of behaviour (which is not even considered SPAM by CC!!)... again, CC needs to step up and nip this in the bud...-the black jesus

Just to clarify, since I know many people neglect reading the Community Guidelines, but "Repeated Unwanted Solicitation of a user via PM/Walls/Gamechat)" is indeed a Minor Infraction, and has been since 2009.

NO, NO, NO.......no need to drown him........we merely need to weigh him,.....if he weighs the same as a duck he must be made out of wood and therefore he's a witch, then we burn him.

Isn't complaining about inbox spam and then spamming the C&A complaint thread a little hypocritical? Just saying.
