The River Kwai Bridge Incident
'Que sera sera' is as apt a label as I can think of right now, for I'd like to bring the curtain down on a stage play that should never have been written and which hopefully will never get another run on Broadway.
I've been on this site for over three years and in that time have made some marvellous acquaintances - some I'd even call friends, albeit distant ones. I play on here simply for the challenge, not to massage my ego by expanding a network of people I'm never going to meet, yet camaraderie is an essential part of that enjoyment and without it I wouldn't spend another minute here. "Why mention all this" you may ask? Allow me to elaborate.
I've always said I'm not a person to harbour grudges - why put myself in turmoil along with whoever it is may have caused my angst. For this reason I prefer to settle old scores by burying the hatchet so that whatever weight is burdening me, and others, may be lifted and we can all go about our day-to-day lives with a new sense of purpose and a smile. This makes me far happier than being a grumpy, vindictive bastard, so one could say it's for selfish reasons and he wouldn't be too wrong.
I made a mistake by inadvertently joining one game too many (Bamboo Jack as it happens, hence the title of this piece). It was my mistake and, as a result, it is me that has had to bear the consequence of effectively disqualifying my clan from the Conqueror's Cup. It was an incredibly bitter pill to swallow - anyone who has invested as much as I have in this tournament, for the best part of a year, would understand how I felt. I ran the gamut of emotions following the decision: shock, remorse, anger and finally acceptance. I don't wish to blame anyone in KORT and nor do I think they should have been put in such a position when tempers had already been frayed due to a very competitive challenge. I salute their gameplay, for they are quite capable of beating anybody on the day without any forfeiture, plus I still harbour good feelings towards a great many in their number. I asked myself then "Why throw that all away? Why spend my future on CC pointing a finger disapprovingly at anyone?" I honestly wouldn't care to do so and I simply wish to be back in that happy place I was several days ago, before this all blew up.
I can't turn the clock back - the train has already left the station. I can however decide not to carry a suitcase full of shit with me, and that's precisely what I intend to do. And the CC community as whole will be a better place if everyone chooses to do the same and we let this whole incident slip into the annals of history.
Thank you for lending an ear.

That was bit like a Jehovah's Witness standing on one's doorstep with 'F**k You' tattooed on his forehead.

Actually it was to bury it, not beat it. As all the other threads were locked this seemed the most appropriate place for me to say my peace, being as it relates to the 'drama' to which Insomnia refers. It was my axe to grind - I've chosen to bury it.

Eh, I am lost too as to why I am getting beaten dead bleeding. Is this some metaphor relating to the Bridge on the River Kwai?
