Blockhead's Speed Assassin Tourney

Postby blockhead15 on Tue Sep 21, 2010 1:54 pm

Welcome to a Speed Assassin tourney!!

I live in Philadelphia, so all tourney games will be held over lunch hour from 12PM-1PM Eastern US time.

Every day for 5 days (Monday thru Friday), I will send out invites to the tourney members. Expect to play 8 games during the hour. After 5 days, the top 8 players will battle the following week with the same settings, with the ultimate winner having the most points combined after the 10 days of playing.

* 16 players assigned to games randomly.
* 4 games on Doodle Earth and 4 games on Luxembourg each day
* Assassin
* Freestyle
* Deployment = 2 manual on each map, 2 automatic
* Spoils = Escalating
* Reinforcements = Unlimited
* Fog of War = Yes

Points Awarded
* If you successfully win the game, you get points based on the round it happens in (add 1 round for manual deploy since round 1 is spent deploying).
* Round 1 = 10 points
* Round 2 = 7 points
* Round 3 = 5 points
* Round 4 = 3 points
* Round 5 or later = 1 points
* If you assassinate someone else's target by mistake, you lose 3 points

Points will be accumulated daily and posted to this thread. If you cannot play 8 speed assassin games on these maps in the time scheduled, please do not join the tourney.

I'd strongly advise using a time conversion tool so that players from different time zones know when the games take place.

Code: Select all
Please check your time zone with this link - World Clock

It is also worth quoting whether Universal time (UTC / BST / ST) or Summer Time (BST / DT) is being used. Plus, always handy to indicate the time at which you made their original post (so that players can compare this to the time their PC shows)

There are a number of other details you will need to plan through for a succesful speed tournament, they can be hard work.

Here is an advice thread which will help you.

Plus, here is a list of previous speed tournament players you could advertise to.

Good luck with recruitment, it may be tricky to organise this with just a 1-hour window for games so you will do very well to get the tournament going.

:D
