See I agree with you, yet if we do one thing here then why should we dictate what they do not find offensive?
I mean look at your name, eddie, what if my family was killed by a man named eddie? then wouldn't I find that offensive as well? same with hitler, he is a name, or adolf, I have a friend named adolf, should I call him something else just because one man under that name killed many for what he BELIEVED right in his sick twisted mind?
So you see again, I agree that the name is offensive but then so could almost any other name, what if Osama was HIS name? but then he decided to add bin laden for some stupid reason?

Besides. I've seen names referencing Hitler, Stalin, Mussolini, Genghis Kahn, etc, etc. Can you imagine the precedent that would be set by this? Where do you draw the line? As someone mention above, American Presidents can be seen as terrorists by those in other nations.
Just go out and challenge this guy to a game. Then you can say you've beat Osama Bin Laden... something Bush can't.

the hitler, stalin, mussolini names all bite the dust... genghis khan is a different matter, that would be like eradicating names that referenced alexander the great, totally different types of leaders/conquests... anyway, bad point, because most of the names you listed, when referenced as a user name, are changed...-the black jesus
Bones2484 wrote:Go do a search, Owen. There are at least 2 active Hitlers and 3 Stalins referenced at this moment. One of them is even named BlackHitler. Surely a concern that I'm sure you'll soon make a new thread about
Uncle Death wrote:He's probably a dumb kid who won't be around for long anyway. I was in a game with a player who had the name of a German WWII general, which one I can't remember but it was a bad guy and one you wouldn't pick. It turned out after razzing him a little that he picked it drunk and thought it was another general, not the one he wanted. He meant no harm and was stuck with the name. It would be nice if we were identified by a player number so that names could be changed but noted so a player could still be tracked. I think it's punishment enough that he's stuck with that name. This does bring up an interesting discussion however, who is to say what real name is offensive, historical or otherwise. Taking the name of a villain in a war game shouldn't be scrutinized too much. Using profanities or slurs in a name is a different matter.
