But seriously I'm pumped to be in the forge, and ready to do what ever it is that must be done to put this into beta... which is what exactly?

1) finish xml
2) get xml checked by forza (see xml checks thread)
3) acquire xml stamp
4) see to any final tweaks as suggested by people & foundry mods
5) annoy mr.benn until he puts your map in beta

Well, I believe the XML is complete, and the Test XML for Errors portion of the Map Maker tool reports

Test results:

Summary: 0 errors and 0 warnings detected in Thyseneal.xml (19 continents, 51 territories)

So, TBK, do you want to want to post the request for the official check?

No, you have to post something like this in [Official] Map XML Checks:

Map name: Thyseneal

Link to thread:
http://www.conquerclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=64&t=114460

Link to large image:
http://i32.tinypic.com/2iot5e.jpg

Link to small image:
http://i32.tinypic.com/am5bgn.jpg

XML:
Thyseneal.1.3.xml

I haven't posted this there because
  1. I think it is supposed to be done by the primary mapmaker, and
  2. I am not sure I have your final versions of the images (I got them from the first post, but I'm not sure if those are up to date, and those tinypic URLs are so opaque).
So, give this the once-over and then post a copy where it belongs.

This is one of my favorite maps in production. I love the unique watercolor style. It is just gorgeous!
I have a few tweaks for your consideration. Maybe you will see something that you might want to incorporate, ...and maybe not.
Either way, I had a fun time playing with it. Like I said, this is really a pretty map, and I look forward to playing it.

Ah ha I see. I like it much better than the one with all the legends. Way too much legend action if you ask me. It just takes away from the beautiful art work.

I have not kept up on the GP. All I am saying is, There really seems to be quite a lot of space devoted to legends. IMHO, the legend should remain as small and inconspicuous as possible. It is a sign that the GP has been overworked, when the legend takes over the map like this. I am sure that all of this has been worked over thoroughly by the resident GP geniuses, but com-on, really, this WAS a really beautiful map. Why must it be ruined with all of this over-complication ?

I'm just thinking that the roads, as attack routes between cities is cool, but why make them bonuses also ?

I realize that this is a GP issue, but it also goes to the Graphics. Anything that you can do to cut back on the legend area, would be an improvement.

...with respect.
So please do not take me the wrong way here. I am a fan of this map, and I feel that I should speak up as an outsider that might be a little more objective, than those that have been looking at it every day.

I understand where you are coming from. I respect your opinion, though I do not agree with it, but it came a bit late. Things like the road bonuses were discussed and decided upon a long while ago. If you had something to say you should have been paying attention earlier. None the less I'm glad you are still looking forward to the map even if there are things you don't like about it.

I am so glad that you are not taking me the wrong way.
FYI, I do not spend any of my time on a map until it gets to GFX. This is for two reasons basically.
1.) I have no interest in developing the GP.
2.) I find that it is better to have "new eyes" when commenting on the graphics. This gives me a better vantage point, in that I am not acclimated to the picture in any way. I therefore do not have any bias, nor do I have any parental feelings one way or the other, about any aspect of the current disposition of the map. When you have looked at a map every day for months and months while it goes through GP development, you naturally begin to feel fondly attached to it.

However, even with all of those overwhelming legend boxes all over the place, This is still a very pretty map. Hats off to ya. =D>

Damn! actually you are right. I can't believe I never noticed how crummy tiny pic is before. What is a better site to use? I'll re-upload from another site when I find a better site.
