Also, I wonder when are we getting a mod review... There has been nothing but XML work being done for a while and everyone seems to be satisfied with the map, so why are we still sitting in the graphics workshop? :-k

On another note... can we finally get a mod review on this? Is there something that is holding up this map? There has been practically no graphical work to do for weeks.

ok, sorry to keep you waiting ;)

Looking at the map I have two different feelings in the same time, the first tells me that the map looks good, the other tells me that there is still something to improve.
In the first post I find an excellent introduction that provides context and creates the right feeling to play on the map, unfortunately, this introduction will not be available during the game, if you could add a text like that to explain why there's a war on the moon, then it would be great! :)
Moreover, the map should look futuristic, but looking at it (no offense) seems to me to watch an episode of Thunderbirds nowadays. I think that the cause is the legend....it doesn't look futuristic...it's more a retro sci-fi look, maybe it was good in the 80's but not now, imo. Everything looks blurred and the metal effect (is it metal right?) on the legend looks more like the lunar ground than metal, also all those small squares....they look like my old electronic battleship game that i used to play when i was child...
Again the shuttles look blurred and they appear like suppository with wings. O:)
The title font is really jagged, specially on the A letters.
The belligerents list in the legend is really hard to read if you look at it for more than a second (specially on the small version)
Try to make more prominent and visible the titles of the legend, some parts (like bRIEfing) get lost...

On the opposite side, i really like the moon/playable part of the map.

Although some of them may not please you, i hope that these thoughts can help you to maximize the potential of your map.

Thanks nobodies, I'll try to address these concerns with my next update...

Legend: I like the legend frame, you might have a point about the background though. I think I'll change the background & the font of the window titles, this should do it I hope...

Shuttles: I've spent lots of time working on the shuttles, according to people's feedback, and I was under the impression that most were satisfied with them now... if this is not so please let me know what more I should do with them.

Title: I could try redoing the title, although I kinda like the style of it.

Belligerents list: this is a tricky part, there's just so little room for it. Perhaps I should scrap it alltogether? I don't know that it is vital as gameplay information... The XML territory names are already in the form "USA landing site US1" etc. so they contain both the country name and the actual territory name on the map, so I'm not sure if the country names need to be specifically identified on the legend... :-k

I'm not a huge fan on big walls of text... Really, most people on CC don't seem to that much care for the "story" of the map, they just want to play the map... the basic story here should be quite self evident: it's the future, countries are waging war on the moon. What else is there to know?

Anyway, I might not be opposed to adding a small length of text, but I'm not quite sure how to word it... :-k

edit: how about:

In 2060 the superpowers of the world have found a new battleground: the moon with it's vast resources of Helium-3, the new fusion fuel.

I like the background to the computer screenish type information windows :D It makes the text there a lot easier to read IMHO!

As for the story line on the map, I think that the title says it all - there is a war going on on the moon! Just my (un)biased 2 cents worth. ;)

Yeah, I'm also quite satisfied with how it turned out. At first I didn't like the blue colour but it actually is a lot better for the text.

I feel the same way, but if the mods insist it I'm not too opposed to adding a short intro...

This sets the stage well, but if you use this, remember you want "its" (possessive form of "it"), not "it's" (contraction of "it is").

...eh, I don't know. However I put it the text just seems cheesy and pasted-on... I don't know, it seems kinda redundant. It is 2060 - this can be seen from the title. Superpowers are fighting on the moon - this can be seen from the 8 countries on the map. They're fighting for Helium-3, duh, there are He-3 mines all over the map and they are the game objective...

Is this text really necessary?

I actually like the flavor text; please keep it. Although, there's a star behind one of the 'o's in 'Moon' that make it look like 'Moan'. And if you wanted, you could make the font/color look more dramatic...

If you think the mention of Helium-3 seems redundant, then perhaps you could substitute a noun that explains why the helium is important. Really, most players will be in the dark about that- helium is the stuff in balloons... why are they fighting over it?

So, maybe say, "...the Moon and its vast deposits of fusion fuel..."
