Emmdizzle: Abuse of invites, baiting [noted]

Postby waseemalim on Thu Jul 08, 2010 7:40 am

Accused:

Emmdizzle

Other:
The accused are suspected of:
Abusing the invite system. Baiting on unsuspecting noobs.

He created a bunch of freestyle dubs on Oasis. In each of his game, he has one spot reserved -- which means no one with a proper team can join.

I suspect most of his invites expire without being filled in. In the meantime the remaining spots get filled by unsuspecting noobs, and people who join next are forced to team up with them.

Game number(s):

Game 7271565
Game 7271562
Game 7271555
Game 7271504

Check his games waiting for more of these. Please check before the invites expire or he drops the games.

Here are some games which got filled with unusual number of low rankers. I point this out because he is a field marshal and if he puts out a game with those settings there are plenty of bounty hunters around who'd like to join. His strategy is to prevent that from happening.

Game 5656143
Game 5772719
Game 5472778

Even if you do check after the invites expire. I can vouch that it is true. I witnessed it yesterday in all of his waiting games. If I had to guess I would guess he is inviting players that don't play anymore.

Seems like an abuse of the system to make sure he plays no one with a clue of what they are doing.

In three of the games posted he is teamed up with a cook. Maybe he's trying to perform some community service, I hear the mods are getting tougher with their warnings and probations.

This is quite the map to farm it seems. Given that his opponents have no clue and that this is freestyle. The easiest strategy is to grab the grand oasis and wait for someone to begin turn. Game over by round 5.

Looks like a good time to start. And this is not vs Emmdizzle, this is vs anybody who uses the invite system like so.

I agree. I would go so far as to say it is gross abuse of the game. When anyone does this, it detracts from the enjoyment of people. It also is a misrepresentation of actual rank. yes in the past it has been overlooked. But there is a first for everything.

True however a) no one wants to start a witch hunt. Although you cant really call it that.
b) using the invite system to block established team is very similar to just foeing a heap of people.
c) its also really hard to prove...as we have no idea who he is actually inviting

Would this count?
Game 5772719
2009-10-28 22:48:18 - Balsiefen: okay folks, emmdizzle just took the grand oasis so i dont reccomend anyone starts their turn unless you think you have a chance of recapturing it :)
2009-10-28 22:52:02 - Munglar: well, that was ugly
2009-10-28 22:52:17 - Emmdizzle: Balsiefen, you've been foed
2009-10-28 22:53:04 - Emmdizzle: Calling out positions in a fog game is VERY weak gamesmanship
2009-10-29 18:54:11 - Balsiefen: Wait what?
2009-10-29 18:54:54 - Balsiefen: I meant no offence but I see it as only fair in a freestyle fog of war game on an objective map
2009-10-29 18:55:47 - Balsiefen: the entire thing has been set up so that you can get an easy win without anyone knowing about it.
2009-10-29 18:56:41 - Balsiefen: i really cant see how I made the situation any less fair
2009-10-29 19:00:48 - Balsiefen: its not as if you even suffered from it

i am not going to go on this witch hunt that you are saying lv but if it can be proven he is inviting players that are not turning up never mind who it is but would this not come under.
Unwritten Rules

Obviously any gross abuse of the game is forbidden. This includes but is not limited to: throwing games or deliberately benefiting from thrown games, intentional deadbeating, holding players hostage, serial teammate killing, hijacking accounts, systematically "farming" new recruits.

because by the sounds of it he is abusing the invite system.

Good points lv.

a. It's not my intention to start a witch-hunt. I feel this is an abuse of the game and I feel that most people would agree that this is.

b. Its not very similar. Foeing can never be exhaustive. You at least give the chance of two corporals teaming up together. Here, the only option he gives people is that of playing with absolutely random (and likely poor) partners. It's like saying -- "hey you can fight me, but you must wear a blindfold", rather than "I dont have the guts to fight you."

c. We dont need to prove anything here. Are you suggesting that people he invites want to be invited, and want to have an open slot?

I guess an argument could be made that people dont have to accept their invites. But the point isnt necessarily about people accepting or not accepting them. It's about creating team games and not giving others the option of picking teams. The only people his game attracts are low ranks and noobs.

p.s. yes, I know it wont come down to a vote. But I want to gauge what people think.

Since this doesn't seem to be an abuse of the rules or game maybe you can move it to the how to be a colonel in under 100 games thread or whatever that thread is in the strategy section. It could be an adendum to the thread for how to keep your high rank while bullying low ranks and bolstering your own ego.

We're debating over whether or not it is an abuse of the game. And cant you read the results of the poll?

I got an invite :) invited a dubs partner and let's see if we can grab the win off him 8-)

I suppose this is abuse of the invite system, perhaps even gross abuse, I have difficulty caring though as really how many players in t50 can you actually applaud the way they maintain rank?

Yes I can read them, I am one of the yes votes. However, I also read the posts before mine in which the mods have stated they do not care about the results of the poll and are unwilling to admit that establishing team games and limiting the opposing teams ability to form a team against a you is a game abuse. =D>

C'mon...it's obvious what he's doing. The poll is 24-4 right now. I think that should mean most of the people on this site thinks a bunch of bullshit. It's people like him that make other people not care about the points system because of the abuse that's occurring.

LMAO!!!

The poll is meaningless and has no bearing in C & A.

Yes it is cheap tactics shit. Kinda like those ALL STARS that join a huge number of low rank open dubs games in order to get those hi % wins.

CC does need to have some kind of standard in protecting the integrity of the invite system. It would be nice to see. Emmdizzle is NOT the only one that has and does pull this crap.

Perhaps this rule should read:
Obviously any gross abuse of the game is forbidden. This includes but is not limited to: throwing games or deliberately benefiting from thrown games, intentional deadbeating, holding players hostage, serial teammate killing, hijacking accounts, systematically "farming" new recruits, gross and deliberate mis-use of the invite system to favorably "load" games.

It's about creating team games and not giving others the option of picking teams. The only people his game attracts are low ranks and noobs.

The invitation is being abused because an 'established team' can not join Emmdizzle's team games because a slot for each opposing team is being reserved. You think this is a gross abuse of the game?

As what lord voldemort said, we do not have any current rules or precedent for this. Unless he is inviting new recruits, this is in the clear. Anyone can make use of your invitations to your games. Besides, he still does play various maps.

We've had new accounts complaining that that they have been joined by team veteran/old accounts, or as we can call them, established teams before but we can only tell these new accounts to foe the players if these established team keep joining their games. Still, before they could have done that or realize on how to report something, their points have already been taken away by these established teams numerous times. Can we also say that established teams who join numerous team games with low ranked players are also guilty of gross abuse?

Let's say that this may be something like when someone invites or plays low ranked players almost all the time. He is not breaking the farming rule nor is he abusing the invites or private games because he is "avoiding" high ranked players or established teams to join his games.

If you want to make a suggestion that no one should make a reserved spot for other opposing teams because it prevents established teams to join, please do. Until then, this is more of a 'loophole" and I will bring this issue to the other admins for further evaluation.
