Welcome to the worldās deadliest job interview! Allow me to introduce myself. I am the leader of the worldās largest crime syndicate, the Labyrinth Corporation. We are an underground organization, so to protect my interests you can just refer to me as Mr. X. My empire of evil extends throughout the world, and with the help of my teams of scientists, Iāve also been able to do business in different periods of Earthās history, as well as alternate dimensions and parallel universes of fantasy and wonder.
What I need is a good, reliable right-hand man, a number-one henchman, a man (or woman) as dastardly as I am who can be trusted to carry out orders and assassinate any and all targets put before them. Iām looking for 80 applicants for the job. Once I have that, Iāll split you into 10 groups of 8 would-be-assassins (using random.org). These groups will be sent to different areas of my empire where I need work done and at each stop, one applicant will be assassinated.
Who can sign up You will only be playing one match at a time, so freemiums are welcome, but only if they have a 98% attendance and can keep a slot open for as long as they are alive in the tournament. Premiums with at least 97% attendance can sign up as well.
Settings All games will be assassin, sequential, and automatic. The first three players to sign up will get a special reward. One will be chosen to decide if we will play foggy or sunny matches, one will choose the types of reinforcements we use and one will choose the type of spoils we use, if any (no nuclear).
Format 10 groups of 8 will compete in assassin matchups. The person eliminated will be removed from the competition, and the remaining 7 in each group will compete in a 7 player game. Each group will move from map to map based on different areas of my criminal empire. When each group is down to 2 prospective henchmen, these 20 remaining contestants will return to my four headquarters in groups of 5 for further training and orientation. At each headquarters, there will be one 5 man assassin match, with the losers eliminated. The remaining 16 combatants will be split into 2 groups of 8 and sent back out into the field. When those groups are reduced to 4 assassins each, they will be combined into the final group of 8. The last two survivors of that group will play a best of 9 series of 1v1 matchups. For that final series, three maps will be used from each area where my crime syndicate, the Labyrinth Corporation, operates (world, history, fantasy).
Important - Any player who assassinates the wrong target will, in fact, find themselves eliminated from the tournament. The eliminated player will be shamed, but will still be alive in the tournament. Obviously, to win the game, you will have to attack targets other than your own. But, the final killing blow must come from the person who has the victim as their target. Failure to follow these precise orders will lead to your termination. I need henchmen who I can trust to do the job right. Eliminate the wrong target and I'll probably bring you back to my headquarters, congratulate you, feed you an expensive gourmet meal, and then throw you to the sharks. - If a player joins a game and then deadbeats and is eliminated from the game, they will be eliminated from the tournament. The remaining players will all survive and may complete that game as a practice mission before moving on. - Players will be sent reminders to join matches 24 hours after I have made the game. After 48 hours, players will be replaced, unless I am notified ahead of time that there is some extenuating circumstance. - Replacements and reserves will be used in the first round only. After that, any player who fails to join their games after 48 hours (unless they send me a message explaining the situation) will be eliminated. - As it takes a while for this many people to sign up and it's tough to say exactly when the tournament will start, I will give freemiums some leniency regarding the 48 hour sign up for their first match, if they need to wait for a game to free up. After that first round however, freemiums that advance in the tournament are expected to keep one slot open for the next round's game.
This is my first tournament, so if I left out any important details, don't hesitate to let me have it!

benga, you're in...and as one of the first 3 to sign up, you get to choose one of the settings for the tournament. I randomly selected spoils, so tell me - will we be using Escalating, Flat, or No Spoils for this tournament?
in please, my attendance is only at 95% due to my computer crashing about a month ago. Since Ive had it fixed it has been 100%, and I can guarantee that I will not miss any turns. Please take this situation into consideration.

I should probably be a stickler for my own rules, but I see that you're running your own tournament, so I figure you'll be around. You're in
I'm here to check over the tax affairs of the Labyrinth Corporation...what's that, a tank of evil sharks, you say? OK, let's not be hasty...perhaps I can try out for the henchman vacancy instead? Yes, I saw the advertisement pinned to a still warm corpse I stepped over in your evil reception area.

Thanks. As for the maps, I'm not releasing the list to keep an element of surprise, but I'll explain a few things. For the first round, there's 10 groups of 8 players, chosen at random. 5 will be playing sets of maps based on our world today, and they'll be grouped together geographically (roughly...there's a little leeway for story-telling). Most of these maps were chosen at random, although I did hand pick a few that made sense story-wise. 4 groups will be playing sets of maps based on different periods of earth's history. It's much easier to run and maintain a world-crippling criminal organization today if you go back in time and lay the foundation yesterday. All maps for these groups were chosen at random, and then I broke them up chronologically. Finally, one group will be playing a set of maps based on the other kind of maps here at CC, the fantasy maps, and also the maps based on board games and such. All maps used after this initial group stage were also chosen randomly, although I did try to get a certain number of each kind of map (world, historical, fantasy). So as you can see, I tried to make things as random and unpredictable for my would-be assassins as possible. I need someone who can adjust on the fly and be comfortable in every setting.
Incidentally, do you think I should put this information in the initial post? I was going to include it, but I thought it seemed like a lot of explanation and I figured most people would sign up anyway if they were intrigued, like you did.

I'm IN? OK, cool, let's start the killing.

Interesting. I'm recruiting some of the most dangerous men and women in the world to come work for me and you think that a lowly accountant such as yourself has what it takes to survive? We shall see. And incidentally, why do you think it's an evil reception area? There's coffee, donuts, a few issues of Good Housekeeping, and we play a very enjoyable adult contemporary radio station, featuring such artists as Hall & Oates, Air Supply and the Pet Shop Boys. It's really a pleasant waiting area. But the sharks, they are evil, you're right about that.
